I was at this show, had on a long overcoat and got my then girlfriend to put her hand inside my coat and rub one out for me -- no one around us had a clue - somethings you never forget. I hope MaryAnne is doing well.
Anyone catch the drummer @ 2:00 min bouncing a stick off the drum as Leslie looking backwards and ended up flying in Leslie's direction? Then Leslie looked like he was saying WTF as he threw his arms up? Hmmm. Otherwise killer version
I was there at the Beacon in 2011 and it was great. Couldn't believe it when Leslie West came out. Hadn't seen him since 1971 at the Warehouse in N ew Orleans. Great memories thanks guys for all the great music.

Yes. I agree. Possibly the best recording captured of shredding a les paul. This video is a good example of how rock and roll is supposed to be played. Learn from the masters themselves. Thanks for sharing this gem.
Mountain was so extraordinarily good. Very few bands have the talent to pull off actually sounding better live than the studio version. They're one of the few that manage to do just that. And thats taking nothing away from the actual studio recording. Its merely showing how versatile they were. The keyboards really helped shape their signature sound. That power amp fuzz is wild lol.
What a ripoff performance...what is this phony need to not sing a beloved song the way it SHOULD sound ??? Practically EVERY artist does this! We want to hear it like the original recording, not altering it at every turn like they're TOO BORED to sing it right - it sounds like CRAP that way!
One of my favorites, but what the ^#^$$;;#@ happened with West's singing here? He sputters & blurts out partial lines, off time!!! He was just so way much better than that. Substance problems?
I agree w the last guy I came late to this dude but this is one of the greatest moments of Al guitar solos possibly the greatest ever!!.. the bends are out of controll and he is in no rush to blow your mind ain’t even looking either.. fat boy got soul crushing pain and tone to soar up to god !?.. the man!!
Man I grew up in the 80s and I loved VH a lot. But when I hit 17 and had Van Halens 5150, Scorpions Savage Amusement and Metallica Master of Puppets AT THE SAME TIME it was just insane. Dave did a great job and stands alone as a pioneer showman,but,when they got Sammy he helped elevate them from hoakey Ice Cream man bs to the next level of songwriting.....and the awards and sales prove it.
I went to a Mountain concert located in Ashbury Park NJ way back in 1971 just prior to shipping out to Vietnam. I am quite certain that this was the only fun thing that I did back in them glorious days. Leslie West sure looks a lot different here. No disrespect > 🙂
