We are Mike and Christy Colvin and the focus of this channel is state park campgrounds!
Since we love taking our RV to state parks-we want to give you the best tour of the RV campgrounds that we have visited so that you can make an informed decision as to whether or not you want to visit that state park yourself!
We hope you enjoy our videos! Please Like, comment, and subscribe!
We live in Hot Springs Village, I can’t believe I live in such a beautiful area. We drive around this park occasionally and it’s beautiful. We noticed the tent sights. Everything is all leveled out for you. I remember tenting years ago in my youth and it was never level or cleared for you. 😂 There is supposed to be some pontoon tours you can pay for at the marina. I want to do that someday. Our church had a group that was going to do that in May. It got rained out.
Of all the state parks in Oklahoma you have visited thus far, which is your favorite or most recommended? Considering the environment, local activities available, amenities, scenery, etc? Thanks!
Well, I've only been to 5 Oklahoma State parks so I don't consider myself to be an expert but of the 5 that I have visited, I would recommend them all. Beavers Bend by far has more activities and fun things to do around the state park and I would have to make it #1 for that reason alone. Robbers Cave would be a close 2nd.
Thank you Mike, I look forward to using your methods. We are heading up from Las Vegas to Bandon Dunes, Oregon. We will keep you informed, thanks again!
I would like to know where you get the plastic pieces that are under the wheels and do they help with tires when sitting long periods of time???? Also the yellow plastic pieces as well. I need both the yellow and orange.
Nice video, I watched this one prior to our first trip to Daisy, it really helped sell us on a "close enough" location. My wife and I have been to Daisy 3 times in the past 2 years. Great park! Campsites are very nice, except no sewer. Bathhouses are clean and have unlimited hot water. The Dump Station water is turned off during freezing temps. Not sure if you can get it turned on temporarily, yet. Flies are bad, but mosquitos not so much. We really enjoy Daisy for the solitude and campsite quality. Avoid Camp area A with a longer rig, short parking drives with a pretty steep slope outside your camp area. There isn't any place to get additional supplies nearby, bring everything you need if possible. It is a 30-minute drive to "restock"!
@mikeduke7148 Daisy State Park remains one of our favorite state parks even after visiting over 40 state parks! It's just a very charming state park! It may not have the best of amenities and location of every state park we've visited, but the amenities are nice and being nestled on the hilly shores of Lake Greeson more than make up for any shortcomings it may have! Thank you for your comments and for watching!!
Your videos would be more helpful to tent campers if you describe the tent sites. I find that Texas state parks are becoming more of RV resorts, not catering to actually tent campers anymore. Many of the tent camping sites have no electricity or water as though tent campers would't like to have the convenience. The focus with the Texas state park seems to be on RV camping. Thanks for posting.
Great video but I have a question, when you said image follow was it following an image of your truck, or did you have the phone in the truck with you? I would like to see you try to follow an image and not take your cell phone.
Sir, you could make lots of money making these kinds of videos. Thank you so much! This video has helped me so much. It's the best video I've seen for teaching how to back up a Fifth Wheel! Thank you again!
Love my “short” Grand Design 26’. Learned valuable pointers beyond my own “figure it out”. Thanks. Maybe I’ll avoid having to replace my rear window a second time…
Backup cameras are fisheye lenses; they increasingly distort your perspective as your rig gets closer to the object. Nothing beats experience with mirrors , coupled with decent spotter communication
I got that problem and was a nightmare. My fresh water tank almost blows. My trailer floor had a bump. Also I heard 2 pops sound….well, for sure I will have a big bill to lay at the RV repair shop. I have no idea what could happened under the trailer.
I got this problem and had repairman put new water pump and water was still coming out top if tank. Gonna try this. Thanks for video..hope this works. I kinda had feeling I was being scammed for unnessacery repairs..anyone honest anymore? Thanks for tip again
I LOVE LOVE LOVE how yall show each site without a bunch of yapping. Haha! I don't know what makes people think I want to watch them driving down the hwy.
Thank you for the very kind words! I know exactly what you mean, and I made the kind of tour videos that I wanted to see while researching a state park, but never quite seemed to find. Less yapping--LOL😆. I just wanted a very basic overview and an idea of what the sites looked like!
Is there any such thing as a single RV that will rise about a foot and a half? I have a vintage 89 Toyota dolphin and the steps are too high and there’s only two of them. I just need something that rises halfway to the step and I can step on it and get in. I can go through the cab but it’s hard. I wear a leg brace and I used to wear 2, many years ago. it’s so frustrating to think I can’t into the door very easy at all. Getting out is easy I can just sit on the second step when I get down the first step and I’m out. I can drive fine.
Enjoy your videos. We use your videos for info on new parks. Full hookups, sewers being the most important. We enjoy biking easy trails and kayaking, any info on these items would be helpful. Again great video content.
Great place. I stayed in the cabins a couple years ago and knew I would be back. Keep the format where you show and describe the camping and RV sites by numbers and amenities, especially full hook ups. That helps folks choose wisely. Appreciate your work!
I'm thrilled you love my home state. I hope to buy a fifth wheel in the next year. Your video on backing one up was quite educational. Im glad Petit Jean has some pull though sites. That will be nice to start with lol.
We are at the park for 1 more nite ( 2 total ) camped on the water - shoulda spent 1 more day here beauty spot and the town of Hot Springs is very interesting for its history and bath houses - i dont usually like the bigger towns it was worth it - free parking downtown helped
Very informative video of the different camping loops. I tagged this in our video of the amenities at Sequoyah :) this video helped me plan our trip here - so thanks!
We were looking for some info as to what to expect for our pending stay a Daingerfield. Followed your video as you drove around... up to Big Pine... and pulled into the very same site we have reserved!! Got an amazing view from multiple perspectives and now, knowing exactly what to expect, we're definitely looking forward to our stay. Thanks much.
Well, that brings a smile to my face! I made the type of videos that I myself was looking for when booking a site to a state park but rarely seemed to find. I'm so glad that you found this video to be helpful!
This looks like a great park with lots to do. But I will have to find a campsite that has full hookups. I use too much water and will want to stay several days if I drive that far. Great video even if it was short
Sounds like you need a portable waste tank. It would enable you to camp at more sites. www.campingworld.com/thetford-smarttote2-lx-4-wheel-portable-waste-tank-27-gallon-82132.html?BCampaign%7D&cq_cmp=19937672638&cq_con=&cq_term=&cq_plac=&cq_net=x&cq_plt=gp&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQiAxOauBhCaARIsAEbUSQRpp85nSvMKXbWzxCxttkNw_TjduZSsG73onkN5_bYywa7WjbaHqScaAtSxEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds
Another great video. Although I'm from oklahoma, I have never been in this part of the state much in regards to the state parks. This definitely one to put on my list. The scenery is beautiful.
Great video!! I definitely want to go to this park. The campground you stayed at looked the best. We live in oklahoma and just got a travel trailer last year. Weve only been to 2 state parks so far. You are very good at narration and have a pleasant voice.
Christy and I want to thank everyone for their comments, and we appreciate the concern that we have seen expressed. I just want to add a comment here to let everyone know that Christy and I are just fine. To make a very long story short, camping is something that we mainly did as a family with my in-laws, and when my father-in-law passed away in January of 2022, we found that our passion for camping had gone with him. We thought that it would return after our grief had subsided, but it never did, so we decided to sell the camper and close that chapter of our lives. We are very grateful for those of you that have found value and watched our videos over the years. Thank you!
