Welcome to the official RU-vid Channel of Mark Carp, writer of the North West Carp and Anglers Diary fishing blogs. I’ve been fishing in the UK for 51 years and I’ve been a dedicated Carp Angler and Specimen Hunter for the last 34 of those years.
On this channel you’ll find all sorts of videos about fishing for carp, pike and perch plus river fishing for barbel and chub. My Videos include the tackle, methods, techniques and baits I use to catch these species of fish. All my videos are supported by the two blogs I've been writing for the last 16 years so check them out too for extra details.
I try to make my videos as educational as I can so you’ll find plenty of hints and tips in all of them. If you have an interest in fishing then you've definitely come to the right place so make sure you don't miss out on my future updates, hit the subscribe button and tap the bell icon.
Thank you and Tight Lines
Mark.

Great video and advice here Mark - I've been a fan of chickpeas for many years and would like to be able to make them Tench and Bream proof! Any ideas on this would be greatfully accepted and lastly I think we may well be the only people in the UK still using monkey climbers - won't get rid of mine in a hurry!!!
@MarkCarp
@MarkCarp 28 дней назад
hi mate, i'm not sure you can make them bream proof, i'm sure i read somewhere you can fry them in oil and they go like bullets but i've never actually tried doing it and i'm not sure how long they'd stay rock hard once out in the lake?, i just change to tigers if there's too many bream/tench. long live the monkeys, best indicators ever🤣
@urbanaut100
@urbanaut100 27 дней назад
@MarkCarp Thanks Mark - I'll give it a try when they get too bothersome and let you know how i get on. Yep - the monkeys take some beating - far more versatile system than swingers!
@MarkCarp
@MarkCarp 27 дней назад
@@urbanaut100 people follow fashion mate, monkeys did come back in style for a while but they've gone again, for me they are so simple and pretty much unbreakable so as long as you don't lose them you'll never need to change them🤣 fried chick peas actually sound quite nice🤣

@urbanaut100 27 дней назад
@MarkCarp Yeh absolutely - you couldnt get big chunky one's backbin the day so I had some heavyweights made at British Steel in early 80s out of 30mm tufnel by a Lathe Turner and used them ever since - they're brilliant and have gone the distance over the years and never failed me. The thing I like is if you're snag fishing you can put the rods at 2.5 feet high to give them a long drop - but then they hit the reels and game over!

That blue gantry bridge at the start of the video as you probably know goes over the Weaver. There used to be a turning gap there but it was closed off because it was too dangerous. If you go up to the roundabout and come back on yourself you can take a left turn I think just after the bridge (with Northwich behind you) and that takes you down to Hulse's Island. You can fish the old (non-navigable) or the new (bypasses the old) river there, and afaik it frequently produces fish to 20lbs, especially the old river. I think it's on the Winsford Anglers ticket. Slightly shorter drive and maybe a tad cheaper? Edit: I checked Winsford Anglers and Hulse's Island is no longer on their ticket. I don't know who has it now sorry.
@MarkCarp
@MarkCarp Месяц назад
above hulses island is winsford aa, below it is northwich aa, i've fished both clubs stretches and i rate northwich aa as the better ticket for carp👍

@MarkCarp

it's an old video, it's actually the sound of thunder which coincides with the text of my fishing blog appearing across the screen. back in the day we made silly intro's like that until we realised they were a waste of time, i don't use any intro's today.

Hi mark just wondering would this method work for cooking maize or do you still have to boil it ?
@MarkCarp
@MarkCarp 2 месяца назад
Hi rhys, technically you can cook maize this way but I wouldn't risk it, maize expands a lot and you'd be running a high risk of breaking your flask. Hemp barely expands at all hence you can get away with it👍
@rhyscooke9939
@rhyscooke9939 2 месяца назад
So if I only used a pint in a 1.8l flask it would cook fine?
@MarkCarp
@MarkCarp 2 месяца назад
@@rhyscooke9939 i haven't done it myself but it should be ok, maize expands a lot so don't put too much in, a pint to start sounds ok, you'll have to experiment with it and see how it goes mate.

I work in a flour mill and i will take a few kilos of wheat home every now and then to use as fishing, i also add some strawberry jelly powder to the mix when its all done just to add a bit of flavour, i think wheat is overlooked as a class bait these days.

Do you find soft plastics or small spinners are best ?
@MarkCarp
@MarkCarp 2 месяца назад
soft plastics for me mate, all my lure fishing is in the winter months and a treble means more leaves, you've more options with a small plastic too, between jig and dropshot you can fish them a lot slower than a spinner👍
