Thanks! And, nice catch on that! Actually, that was my attempt to try it out... But apparently, in a few places, PDK shifted up too early for me, and resulted in down shifts when applying full throttle later. So I'll stick to manual mode next time.

There is a lot of lack of information and disinformation in regards to LED headlights. Some people think that they are fine. Others perceive that they are good headlights, just too bright. Still others think (and preach/lie, like David Harkey President of the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) that the headlights are fine, it's just a matter of every vehicle that with LED headlights that leave the factories leave so with their headlights magically out of alignment. Still other people think that it is not the LED headlights at fault but only because there are more taller vehicles on the roads. But the facts are that the problem with LED headlights is that they are PHOTOTOXIC, meaning that they are poison for human eyes. All of the factory (and illegal aftermarket) LED's are for sure too bright. The human eye was never designed to be able to defend against such outrageous levels of focused light. But to add to that, LED headlights emit high-energy, short-wavelength blue light which has been PROVEN to cause irreparable ocular damage including cataracts, macular degeneration, and retinal damage. This has been proven through dozens of domestic and international medical studies and has been affirmed by the American Medical Association (AMA) and several international government agencies. Just look up "blue light damage to the human eye" and every Ophthalmology and Optometry website on the internet warns of the dangers of prolonged blue light exposure from digital devices. So if your cell phone can destroy your eyes, what do you think 10,000 lumens of LED headlight blasting straight into your eyes at night is doing? There is no fixing this optical poison with supposed magical adaptive beam headlights. There is no remedying this visual assault on people with any headlight alignment. LED headlights need to be BANNED, end of story. We need to go back to halogen headlights. Headlights which served well for decades and never caused people to stop driving, caused accidents and dangerous driving conditions, or caused visual damage to humans. I've been driving rural dark country roads for thirty four years and I like so many other people have NEVER needed LED headlights to do so, and I never will. So why isn't the U.S. government doing anything about this? They are certainly aware of the complaints, that's a fact. The British Parliament led by Baroness Hayter is attacking the problem currently. So why isn't the U.S. government? Three reasons: 1) Our regulating agencies are in bed with the auto and lighting industry and pockets are getting filled with $$ on both sides. 2) Our government (which allowed this to happen) will never admit fault, because if they did they would be responsible for the largest most expensive auto recall in history and MANY heads would roll. 3) Because the only time our government fixes something, if at all, is only after millions of lives have been lost or ruined first. Examples? Flint Michigan. The pesticide DDT. Hinkley, California and Pacific Gas & Electric (Erin Brockovich). Tetra-ethyl leaded gasoline. Asbestos. Agent Orange. Radium in skin products. And now we have vision-destroying, life ruining, accident-creating LED headlights; the asbestos of the auto industry. Anyone who has any doubt about how much havoc these headlights are wreaking on the lives of all people of ALL ages need only to check out the subject on any social media. My favorite are the endless stream of comments from people on a petition you will find on a petition website if you type/search "Ban blinding headlights". It's being run by Mark Baker who as been in this fight longer than most. The comments on that petition truly capture the devastation being caused by these headlights and the outrage of those affected.

i live in pnw too and its so bad. teslas and trucks are the worst in my experience, but i drive a sedan so the 90% of cars that are suvs on the road are usually tall enough to blind me anyway.

I see less on the road now than I did in 2010, these light are truly a step backwards. I have 5 percent all around and 20 on the front and it drowns out bright lights pretty well. A necessity at this point
@silvy7394
@silvy7394 6 месяцев назад
We need to be like other countries where you have to have your vehicle inspected every once and awhile for it to be road worthy - including adjusting headlight alignment. Also like every other country we need stricter regulations on vehicles so this doesnt happen to begin with from the factory.
@alex310110
@alex310110 6 месяцев назад
Some states do have smog rules that you need your car to pass the smog inspection. I think the biggest the problem is that, it's hard to get the headlights replaced on the existing cars which were made before any newer regulations.

As a Tesla driver, the headlights are pretty terrible for glare and being flashed at by others thinking your high beam is on is a somewhat regular event. The newer models are much better at reducing glare, but still not on-par with EU brands just yet!
@alex310110
@alex310110 6 месяцев назад
Yeah, I can see that some Tesla on the road has this problem, while some of them don't. High-volume manufacturers really need to take good responsibility on this, but unfortunately it's already late...
@silvy7394
@silvy7394 6 месяцев назад
Its sad how Tesla is basically the only manufacture that actually cares about this. Even on their new cybertruck the actual headlights are way down low from where they're normally positioned on trucks.
@alex310110
@alex310110 6 месяцев назад
@@silvy7394 I can't tell right now because Tesla haven't had major refreshes in U.S. yet, so I can't distinguish the model year from appearance. I hope they've learnt that, and I'm looking forward to confirming that on the refreshed models.
@silvy7394
@silvy7394 6 месяцев назад
@@alex310110 Well the second problem is the regulations. Currently the regulations are adjustment for cars with the old halogen bulbs, which dont shoot as brightly on the right and left. For LED bulbs you actually need to go lower to reduce the glare, and because more light is getting shot to your right and left at a higher degree. The light is also more focused on LED bulbs. But a lot of new vehicles are adjusted like halogens. Doesnt help that SUV and trucks with high headlight placement are the norm, so it blinds you even more. But this is America. Nothing of importance ever goes on up in the government.
