Hi! We're Brad and Rikki and we have two JLU Jeep Wranglers. Hers is a 2020 Sting Grey 2.0T aka Upgrayd, mine is a 2021 Bright White 3.0T diesel aka DoubleDose. Yes, the names are a reference to the movie Idiocracy. This channel is for our Jeeping adventures and other things Jeep related.
Hey there. I’m running Mickey Thompson Baja Boss M/Ts. First time I’ve ever run Mud Terrains and they’re a bit noisier that ATs however it seems on the highway the wind noise of the jet is louder than the tires. I’ve also had a little trouble keeping them balanced / vibration free. Traction seems excellent and they have plenty of sidewall flex even as a D rated tire.
Wow nice! I wish I was in good enough shape to take that hike on. I’m working on it though 😊. I wouldn’t mind going back up when the sun is out. Probably a whole different experience.
BADGES WE DONT NEED NO STINKING BADGES WE HAVE TOYOTAS HERE Just get some 2x 4 Steel and weld that shit up under the rockers take a half a day BOMB PROOF SLIDERS But hey Im a FARMER we BARNYARD EVERYTHING This is FAR from the most DEADLY FAR FROM IT Damn FINE VIDEO MAN We only rent our time here!!!!
I think it would do just fine. Colorado Mall crawlers has a video on this trail in a stock rubicon 2dr JL. I didn’t feel anything steep enough on this trail that would have made me uncomfortable in our LJ which is only slightly longer wheelbase than a 2 doorl JL.
Enjoyed the video. When did y’all do the alpine loop? I see the trees are turning in this video. We did it on September 13th. Maybe our paths will cross again one day. Plan on taking our daughter to the Hot Springs park October 23rd. She will be getting married on October 26th. So, this will be our last daddy/daughter adventure while sharing a last name. LOL Sorry, to hear about your friend. Will be praying for him.
Hey John thanks! We did this one on 9/17 and did Alpine Loop and surrounding trails 9/18-20. So we only missed each other by 5 days! Congrats to your daughter, I know it can also be a tough time for mom and dad. If you have time to explore the town of Hot Springs it’s pretty near. They have an overlook tower and an Arboretum with a glass chapel that were worth a look.
Hey there, I'm not very familiar with your vehicle but I know the Gladiator with us didn't have a ton of clearance and we had to be pretty careful picking lines. I'm guessing you could do Snake and Quartz canyon with no more than a little scraping. Not sure I'd try Rubicon Ridge or Fun Run though.
I’ve got a good video of one i found that ended in a flooded creek haha. I had to get out and wade in thigh deep water until I found a spot I could turn around. 😂
Oh wow 😅 we hit that road last week and there were cones on one end. It didn’t look “officially” closed so we went around. There were a couple of big washouts and ruts. The other end had a big pile of branches across it so we had to turn around. It was pretty fun, want to go out again 😅
Do you guys have other forms of social media or an email address to contact you at? There’s another little hidden gem just across the river In southeast Oklahoma that always makes for a fun day trip.
Hey! No I haven’t been messing with other social media even though I know I should be. Are you talking about Crossbar Ranch? That one is on my list of places to go.
Just to let everyone know, that was not vertical challenge that you did, unless you have a very well built rig with minimum 38" tires, lockers and a good spotter, don't even think about it
So we did see a sign for vertical challenge coming out of rubicon ridge. But apparently we weren’t on it. I’m navigationally challenged so please forgive the inaccuracy. 😊
@@TwoTXJeepers it's all good. Glad to see y'all out enjoying jeep stuff and thx for the content. Just didn't want anyone to get in over their head. We just spent 3 hours at the bottom of it doing a trail repair and another broke his axle this past weekend.
@@TwoTXJeepers Thank you sir! I was more worried about ground clearance, but yes the Gladiator's long wheel base creates it's own challenges for sure, always concerned I'm gonna rip off a tail light. Have watched several of your videos today, gonna subscribe now. Appreciate the speedy response, headed there in October, hopefully good weather.
Ya our friends with the stock Willys Gladiator was able to do two with a little spotting. Your lift and 37”s will make those much easier. Rubicon ridge has a few ledges going down that might catch your rear bumper if you try them but I think you’ll clear if you’re careful. Fun Run has that tight section with rocks that I think will be the toughest part but ground clearance should be fine. Take it slow and use a spotter or get out to look. Let me know ow how it goes!
Great video! Finally a good one showing what to except at this park. I drive a leveled 3rd gen Tacoma with a rear locker on 32 inch tires. Do you think I would be able to make it on their 3 diamond rated trails? I would like to try most of the jeep BOH trails.
Hey thank you! The only ones I’ve done there are the BoH trails so can’t say about anything else. I think you’ll be ok on Snake and Quartz Canyon. The biggest issue on Rubicon Ridge is the ledges going down. You’ll probably drag your bumper down those if you don’t take the bypass. I wouldn’t try Fun Run unless you’re ok with body damage.
Thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed it! I’m guessing they got some storms with the recent hurricane driven weather. If there was a lot of erosion on the trails let us know. Have fun!
I'm in Texas and have been wanting to go to Hot Springs Off-Road Park for some time. I've watched quite a few videos of the BoH trails there and yours is by far the best I've seen. Very informative and you provided some very useful pointers, especially on the technical spots on each of the trails. Appreciate your insight and taking the time to do this video. Looking forward to going this year.
I have the Mopar, they are junk, it's been only 2 years the snap fasteners broke a while ago, mine doesn't really get that much abuse, so it's not an issue, in the winter I use an old set of weathertech I had in my previous JL, they are out of shape, but doesn't allow snow/water to seep through in the winter
Oh ouch that’s terrible We rarely get snow, but sounds like you might. I’m curious, was the floor drain something you used? Seems like if it worked as intended you’d get a puddle on the garage floor
There was a stretch where that was happening a lot. I believe they switched to a different company for order fulfillment and sent a message out saying to message them if you had some missing. That might be worth trying g if the park isn’t close.
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it. We love the town of Hot springs too. We stayed in one of the historic hotels on a previous visit and my wife swore it was haunted! 😂
@@TwoTXJeepersI wouldn't doubt that some of the old Hotels in town would have some interesting things taking place. I usually camp at the park when I visit. Ñ y'all ll should check out Saint Francisville and the Myrtles. Supposed to be Haunted as well
Hi Brian, we went Feb 19th so only a month ago. Looking at the weather it seems like it will be mostly sunny leading up to your trip so I don't think you'll have too much mud to contend with. If you've wheeled in Indiana you're probably used to weaving between trees. Be safe, have fun, and thanks for watching!
At least yours are fairly level. Ours usually have a good bit of hills and at least one really steep hill. Which cause the people who can't drive to slide into ditches or someone.
great video. Im thinking of this bumper and seeing the clearance issue now gives me pause. Im not smart enough to fab something like you did... but it sure does look great
Hey thank you! I didn’t appreciate Bridgeport as much as I should have the first time we went. But being the closest it has started to grow on me. We haven’t made it out to MERUS yet but planning to in the spring. If you have any tips I’d love to hear them.
Good video, your conversation with your wife sounds like me and my wife. We went to Merus out in Amarillo for our first trip to an off road park. I wish I would have gone somewhere closer for our first trip to work out the bugs.
Hey Derek, we tested on a somewhat hilly straight road once. We got about a mile apart with no degradation but didn’t go further. I figured we’d normally be talking to people in our group closer than that.
At the3:15-4:00 mark my 19 Tacoma on 33s and 3in lift made it up just fine. I’ve done it a few times, going up I think the best line is to stay to the right and not the left. Try that next time and I think everyone will make it up too! Where the blue Jeep placed their front left tire in the hole, stay to the right of that and you’ll get it every time
@@TwoTXJeepers I’m not good with Jeep body styles but I went with a 2018 older body lifted 3in on 35s and he made it up the same side I did. We’re both manuals too
We went and I looked at it but I just wasn’t seeing a good way up the right side. I will say that with it dry (first time I’ve seen that) we walked right up the left with no problem.
@@TwoTXJeepers that’s very interesting! I wonder how much different it looks now. It’s definitely much easier when it’s dry. The last time I went up it when it was wet I slid too far to the left and bent a tie rod while my tires were spinning lol
if I ever get a Jeep this info will come in handy! ;) Great video - I normally can't stand the YT "short" format but this one was very well done. You even fooled me into *almost* believing it was a professionally edited and narrated video!
If its likely you will be able to use all the tread life before having to replace all the tires a 4 tire rotation might be better. If you have decent odds that you'll damage one and it can't be repaired, the 5 tire rotation might make more sense. Which is better depends a lot on how often you beat up your tires. A 5 tire rotation also makes rotating very easy, you only need one jack/jackstand. Thanks for watching!
@@tomthackston1442 yep that’s right. That’s what a 5 tire rotation is doing, the driver front just takes a timeout in the spare position before going on to the passenger rear. Mud tires need rotated more frequently though.
Very true. I think the recommendation varies by manufacturer but it's usually between 3000-5000 miles. I enjoy doing it so I usually do it a little before 3000 miles and my tread wear is VERY even. Thanks for watching!
Ya Texas doesn’t have too much in the way of public land. Nearest to the DFW area are off-road parks in Bridgeport (Northwest OHV), Gilmer (Barnwell Mtn), then Marble Falls (Hidden Falls). A little further out near Amarillo (Merus Adv Park). Big Bend National Park is a must see but you’ll want to go when it’s cooler. Thanks for watching!
Enjoyed it!!! I know HF well but have not been to Bridgeport. The last trail looks awesome! If there’s more trails like this I would definitely stop in. Thanks for sharing !
