Learn how to create engaging and professional online presentations that grab-and keep-your audience's attention. My mission is to help you elevate the quality of your online workshops, webinars, and teaching so you can create content with impact.
This channel is for you if you want to enhance your presentations without the headache of trying to figure out all the tech and tools on your own. I share what I've incorporated as a facilitator & trainer who had to pivot quickly from in-person workshops to a virtual format.
Cat - I am a Beta Tester for Rode - started the testing 6 months ago - initially it was technically an Alpha Device - the journey was fun and appreciated - I am learning big time from this presentation - you are not afraid to experiment which helps us all. I have a StreamerX and Rodecaster Pro II - my goal is to have them all working together - I have also enjoyed Tom’s Shows - thank you - Jim
Very good to have a hardware addition, especially when you are tasked to do something in a company where you know that it will be used by all kinds of different people, so software installation is not practical, and IT has everything software related locked down. This one seems to even have space on the buttons to put stickers, so you can easily make it recognizable which buttons to press. Do the sound inputs have some way of gating, or otherwise easy muting functions? Can a USB webcam be inputted and that the audio and video stream are separately addressed?
Hey Cat, just to let you know, if you push the buttons on the corner rather than center, there is no clicking noise. Maybe you have discover it by now.
Cat - this was super helpful! Really well done! I ended up ordering the Rodecaster Video the day it was announced and released, and received it two days later. Your demo on how to set up custom scenes and overlays was really helpful. Thanks so much for your efforts on this video!
Thanks you for content. but I have question, why this device export 1080 ??? for online stream ok, it's good for internet, but for Record export in 2024 with this much powerful cameras, why 1080 ???
I agree that the RODECaster Video is not cheap, but if you keep the device for 2 and a half years that would be the equivalent of a $40 per month subscription. Then you would graduate to the "free plan." Kinda like leasing a car vs buying. (edit: Oops. I am now at the part in your video where you say this.) The only drawback I see for some is no 4k. Maybe the chefs at B&H were using the OSBOT with OSBOT UVC to HDMI Adapter ($169). Aaron Parecki had done a few videos on it. (edit: Hey! He showed up Live. Uh, never mind, I am guessing this doesn't apply.)
You are right about comparing costs over a longer term. As for the demo at B&H, I didn't see an adapter when I looked, and it seems like Aaron's experience was that it didn't work and then it did. So weird! I'm hoping to hear back from RØDE after the weekend.
@@CatMulvihill Thanks for the reply. Next time, I will make sure to watch the entire video before commenting. LOL! I have edited my original comment a couple of times. I was surprised when Aaron showed up near the end.

What a great demonstration! Excellent material as always. My speeches are prepared in English, but it is not my native language. I'm wondering what happens if a person says some words in a different manner or with a different accent...
I just discovered you can add the HDMI sound to the mixer from the console. Once you do that, you can control the levels of the audio from the HDMI source. I haven't figured out how to do it from RØDE Central (yet).
Ordered one, just because I like your face! It solves some of my Magewell Director Mini issues, namely audio! My hope is, I can remove my StreamDeck XL, gigantic RodeCaster Pro II, and the MageWell in a cradle, as this combo takes up a lot of real estate on smaller desks when we travel. Not going to lie, subbed because you're cute! Seven scenes will not be enough for complex streams, but we use vMix on paid gigs, and the RodeCaster video still can be used to feed in 6 video feeds to a vMix input. Nice. I would love to see NDI at some point; however, again, we can always use this in conjunction with vMix to fulfill that.
I have watched a ton of videos on the Rodecaster Video and wasn’t going to watch yours but a lot of what you shared was not covered by others. Great job of staying squarely in your lane and providing the value your audience knows you for. I’m a fan!
This is a great tutorial. Thank you; it is very professional. I have problems when people drop out of rooms and return to the main room. It's not possible to put them straight back into their original room, you have to send them an invite to another room and then send them to their original room. Have you experienced this?
Thanks so much Cat - this is the best video for the RØDECaster Video for trainers and presenters I appreciate your explanation of the difference between hardware and software-based approaches. I suspect two of the most obvious yet rarely mentioned benefits are if you have limited workspace on a tabletop, one device rather than two immediately creates AND with one device, one interface, you don't have extra plugs, cables and additional interface software to learn. I'm not sure if you livestream to LinkedIn or only to RU-vid - if you livestream to LinkedIn that would be a video that would be helpful for the trainer & presenter community.
Cat, I've been following you for a while and today I think you brought something that is VERY interesting to me. Thank you! If you could spend 5 or 8 minutes taking a look at one of my daily newscasts (you can find me at @ACLNews8 here on RU-vid), I would like you to tell me if I could use the RodeCaster Video for that. Please don't worry if you don't understand what I am talking about (it's in Brazilian Portuguese), but the thing is... I use a lot of images, sometimes I use videos, too, besides quite a few sounds here and there to "reinforce" my commentary on a given subject. I am planning to go live, especially on weekends, but only whenever I can get the right equipment that will allow me to do that (I fly completely solo, and for that reason my newscasts are always edited with FCPro and then uploaded to the platforms.) My question to you, after you watch a little bit of my "Almanaque CL News", is... will the RODECaster Video be the answer to my prayers? Will it work for me? What do you think? All the best, Claudio Lessa in Winter Park, FL
Hi Cat, thanks for the detailed description. The layering of shots looks relatively easy. Reminds me a lot of Livestream Studio and Wirecast. It looks to be easier to setup than an ATEM mini with much the same feature set. I guess that no-one has worked out how to use instant video replay yet. What is the audio/video delay ( in milliseconds)? For the 4K crowd, 1080p uses half of the processing power than a 4K production.
Can you do a video on how thsi works with Ecamm and WHY you would use it with that, Ecamm allows you to do multiple vidoes and so would be interested to see how it works with Ecamm
Fantastic video. For Sony cameras like FX30 and FX3 cameras can you use this to livestream but at the same time record internal at 4K to the SD cards? This may appeal to clients to also have higher quality footage after the event
Thank you Cat, great overview. I have a question for you. What does a RCV do than an ATEM mini Extreme ISO does not do? Because they are around the same price point. Many thanks. 🎉🎉🎉
Great video - How would this work if you want to pull in the audio from a keynote slide - would it take the computer desktop and computer audio as an input?
