IMHO Pennekamp is the best reef diving anywhere in the contiguous 48 states. Best time to go is summer when the conditions are usually flat which is when you'll have the best visibility. 1 mile out the water is still warm enough in the summer that you don't need a wet suit. Hotels in Key Largo are a bit cheaper then too. There are some really good diving outfits there so all together, Key Largo / Pennkamp in the summer is a great value.
Yep. I've dove wrecks off of Ft. Lauderdale down to about 70 ft but didn't like it as much because the visibility wasn't as good and sometimes you have to fight currents. What I love about Pennekamp is the finger coral and the water depth. It averages somewhere around 40 feet so as long as the surface is flat you get great visibility and an easy relaxed dive moving in and around the coral. While there are other reefs in the Caribbean teeming with a lot more marine life and more interesting coral, you'll pay a lot more for airfare and accommodations to those places.
Looe Key reef boasts a likely goliath grouper encounter (massive), but yeah John Pennekamp rocks. The depth made for a perfect first snorkel trip for younger me, and I can hardly wait to go back!
Schöner und besser kann man die Unterwasser- bzw. Fischwelt der Malediven kaum darstellen. Auch die musikalische Untermalung ist mehr als gelungen. Glückwunsch, 9 Minuten Entspannung pur !!!
