Thirty years is still young by American standards. Here in the New York City Metro Area, we have regional commuter rail carriages clocking 50-plus years on the speedo. Some of our subway (metro) train carriages are nearly 45 years of age and are still in service. Some may call our fleet of rail carriages "dinosaurs", but for the millions of passengers who need to get to work on time, those "dinosaurs" still provide a yeoman service any day of the week. With that said, great shot capturing one of the train I got to pilot in Train Sim World (yes, I'm a gamer). I hope a heritage railway museum gets to keep the Class 323 in the Regional Railways paint scheme.
I say if something is working keep them, the trouble with our country is build new units and some get stored, with these 323s most of been moved up north.
Maybe 🤔 perhaps 🤔 I agree ☝️ that class 323s should stay with WMR - West Midlands Railway 🚃 beyond 2024 and could continue until perhaps 🤔 2034. I honestly haven’t been on any of the 3 car class 323 trains 🚂 🚊 🚆 however I assume that they are very good 👍 😊 😌 is because they are very smooth and trustworthy trains 🚊 🚆 🚂 in the world 🗺️ 🌏 🌍 🌎 however it’s time 🕰️ to move on and are replaced by brand new 🆕 class 730s. It’s probably very confusing 🫤 that there are changes to what happens next to these trains 🚂 🚊 🚆 however it’s probably best for them to move to NT - Northern is because they replace the aging class 319s and 769s that are scheduled 📅 📆 off lease from NT - Northern. Class 323 trains 🚊 🚆 🚂 has standard class accommodation only, second generation EMU - Electric ⚡️ Multiple Unit trains 🚂 🚊 🚆 , has a toilet 🚻 🚾 🚽 , luggage 🧳 rack, no smoking 🚭 accommodation is because it’s prohibited 🚫 on all trains 🚂 🚊 🚆 , buses 🚌 🚍 🚎, railway 🚃 stations 🚉, houses 🏠 🏘️ 🏡 , cafes ☕️ 🍽️ 🍵 , shops 🏬 , hospitals 🏥 , schools 🏫, enclosed public places and inside the buildings around the world 🗺️ 🌏 🌍 🌎 , open windows 🪟, gangway within unit, comfortable seats 💺 and are reunited with NT - Northern only. Both NT - Northern is the other train 🚊 🚆 🚂 company and this train 🚂 🚊 🚆 company WMR - West Midlands Railway 🚃 runs its services everyday including public holidays except Christmas 🎄🎅 🧑🎄 🤶 Day and Boxing 🥊 Day. It’s a shame 😳 that class 323s have finished ✔️ ☑️ ✅ with WMR - West Midlands Railway 🚃 however never 👎 mind. 👍 😆 😁 😄 😃 😀 😍 😎
Great video Mike, that's another class of emu that has served the comunity well over the years. Mind you i had a ride in a class 730 out of Euston the other week and personaly thought it was a good ride with a spacious interier. As for me well the weather is dreadful again but at least your videos can keep me sane .Take care and all the best Mike, regards, Colin.
I was at walsall yesterday taking pictures and filming, I finally managed to sit in the cab after waiting for most of my life to do that so, life goal completely ticked off the list there. one of my friends was on the tour as well.
Great video mate. It makes me wonder what would have become of the Northern 323's if they had took on the Class 365's for the Chat Moss line before they were scrapped in 2021? Although I hear Dapol are making a Class 323 in OO Gauge, so you might be able to get a model of one of these for keepsake. I know I am :).
Amazing shots and captures there Mike. Nice sounds and liveries. Another gooden from you. Shame these are going from the West Mids, they will be missed in this livery. Very nice indeed. Really enjoyed, thanks for sharing!
So farewell then to a well-designed, attractive train with a pleasant interior, plenty of seats facing each other, and welcome a new train with cramped hard seating with high backs and a lack of views out. The 323s were Metro-Cammell's last design. They derive from the Class 151 DMU which we should have had instead of the Cl 150 in the 1980s....
Totally disagree. The seating on the 730 is much better, there’s no 3+2 seats meaning standing passengers can easily spread through the carriage, it’s easy to walk from one end of the train to the other and the 730 has air conditioning.
I did think of doing Lea Hall myself Brian but I wanted to get them sounds they make so it had to be Barnt Green, plus no aircraft flying over. Be in touch soon regards Mike.
I used to do the 2 stops to University from New Street everyday. Some days standing room only. The 730s have more seats! But sound ordinary compared to the musical 323s motors.
Excellent video Mike!! Sad to see these go although I never got to experience them myself they have been a great workhorse for the West Midlands depsite not getting off to the best start! The 730s do look like nice trains though and will be interesting to see how they perform!
Well Jacob I filmed a class 730 at my local station in 2022 so its taken a very long time to get them into service, today I did get out to film the farewell tour which ran late twice. Hope you have a good week, Mike.
Me and my son like watching your videos, I really like watching the freight trains I started a channel recently after being inspired by your channel and some others I watch regularly ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ZokKgb8FuNk.htmlsi=qsu3ckWQ3cXE3Ju9
Network Rail have done a horrible job with the electrification of the GWML. They should've used thinner gantries instead of huge towers. No wonder the electrification went over budget. Network Rail should feel ashamed of themselves for designing this grossly engineered overhead wires and it was a disgraceful type of what they done.
I am so gonna miss these units. They were so nice to ride on. Especially with the motor sounds they have got. One of the most iconic sounds in the West Midlands. Goodbye WMR Class 323 (1994 - 2024)
Glad you enjoyed it this video, I suppose the new one's had to come on service Allan, they have been around on test for the last three years. ATB Mike.
It's a very sad goodbye to the West Mids 323s Mike, they will definitely be missed around there with the unique livery especially 221. Another gooden from you. You've done well getting these. Very nice indeed. Really enjoyed, thanks for sharing. Take care, have an awesome day and all the best! Jamie
You have got most of them up your way now Jamie so you will be hearing that great sound for a long time, thanks for your thoughts on these great British units, Mike.
I am really gonna miss the 323s, they were my childhoood as a train lover and carried my local line. I can imagine myself just crying after fliming the farewell tour
Tony the one's which Northern want have already gone north, but the few which are left in the area will sadly be scrapped. Thank you for watching but I will be out tomorrow for the farewell tour.
@@antman09ful1 The open space of the drivers cab, plus a window you can see out of are among the reasons they are so highly regarded by drivers. But top of the list has to be the sound they make when pulling off.
Thanks for the comment ENC, I believe Northern have got what is needed up north, and the one's which are left at Solo Depot will be scrapped except 221.
Great shots there Mike, sure you will miss them, as for us we have even more of then now on Northern Rail! Hoe long for, i hsve no idea. Enjoyed cheers Nick.
