I would still stick to original cables but as those arent nearly available its probably HD retro cables. I use the original PS2 component ones but those are a pain to find but i do find the quality amazing with them on PS2 itself. What device or model are you using to be able to switch signal between the component cables?
I actually have the official Sony component cable. Besides the current price value, I didn’t understand the difference between that and HD Retrovision’s cable. Is the HD Retrovision really better quality than Sony’s?
I just own a 32 inch Trinitron CRT TV but I want to improve the resolution when playing PS2 games but it only has red yellow and white components available.
Thats the way i was thinking too. Im pretty sure they are great for that being your main console though, since the ps2 can emulate a ton of older consoles as well. Not my main one, so it probably wont be what i get.
holy crap just found this video due to wanting to buy the hd retro cables. seeing your TV and consoles underneath brought back a slew of memories lol. keep up the great work! subbed!!
Exactly the comparison I was looking for. I have been using the same cheap, braided component cables, and debating on trying the HD Retrovision. They'd be about 60 CAD shipped, and I'm not sure I see enough difference to order them.
Depends on your use case. If your using on a ps2 and/or a CRT you likely won’t be able to tell a difference. If you are using a PS3 to a 1080p or higher display you can absolutely tell the difference. Glad I was able to help out!
@@Telenetic_Video@4:44 of your video what adapter/converter did you use? I need your help to buy one to HDMI Converter Upscaler (maybe not 4k but I'd like one if possible or atleast 1080) and I don't know who to ask 🙏 please help
I want to add an update. There is a very clear difference between using the HD Retrovision cable vs the $12 one. The clarity is MUCH better from the HD Retrovision on a 1080p monitor. While making a new video I used the cheap component cable to capture footage. Immediately I noticed it was more blurry than the hdmi cable. I switched to the HD Retrovision and it is near hdmi quality. If you can afford it the HD Retrovision is worth the extra $17.
I just bought this Chinese noname cheap cable for 5$ from china. Wanna compare with my original PS scart RGB cable and s-video. But as u say that in 720/1080p picture has bad quality than it has.
Okay I'm wondering did you have to buy an adapter for the red, blue, green, white, red to be able to connect it to an hdmi? If yes which one did you get for it 🙏
@@awhiy-1055yes,get a portaa ypbpr adapter if you don’t want to spend that much and still have a good picture but if you can afford a bit more look into retrotink converters
Thanks for the video. I wanted to play MGS 1 - 4 on my PS3 but the HDMI port seems to have died on me. I ended up getting a similar $12 cables since im not sure if the component cable port is alive or not. I will definitely consider picking up the HD Retrovision cable if the port is alive for long term use. Im reading that the HD Retrovision can go up to 1080p while the cheaper ones go up to 1080i. Is there a big difference in terms of video quality between them?
If your using the PS3 on a normal flat screen tv your probably going to want 1080p. 1080i is an interlaced signal and your tv will need to de-interlace the signal to display it. 1080p will look sharper. The HD retrovision is without a doubt worth the $30 if you want a quality cable in my opinion. Here’s an article about that explains it better than I can: blog.son-video.com/en/2019/09/1080i-and-1080p-resolutions-what-are-the-differences/#understanding-the-differences-between-1080p-and-1080i
@@Telenetic_Video Luckily my component port on the ps3 was still working. I ended up grabbing the HD retrovision as you suggested and you were right, it looks near identical to when I used hdmi. Thanks again.
If thats true, im glad i read your comment because my tv is capped at 1080i instead of 1080p and also doesnt do rgb signals, so i may just use the cheaper ones and use the extra money on controllers for the ps2 im nodding.
