Thank you for the comment. I don't know who the vocalist is. My wife wrote the lyrics and I added the music. I then sent my recording to the ISA (International Songwriters Association), who are based in Limerick, Ireland, and paid for them to do a more professional demo in the style of a female American Country Music artiste such as Lee Ann Womack. I do agree with you that the vocalist has a lovely voice, and we are very pleased with the ISA's demo of our song. I think the early 60s were similar worldwide after the war. We didn't have much but we were each happy as children. I also lived on a river called Elbe. A beautiful song.Beautiful memories for many of us. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

It was a much slower pace of life in the 1950's and 1960's and possessions were not so important as they seem to be nowadays; there were lots of activities which did not need mobile phones, computers, games consoles etc. There were street games, exploring the local fields, climbing trees, bike rides, impromptu football or cricket matches, train-spotting, walks along country lanes, taking photos, to recall but a few. There seemed to be more freedom for children then than there is now and their play was not supervised by mum or dad; they were free to adventure far from home for hours on end. I'm sure that if 'Health and Safety' had been around then, they would have had a 'field-day' attempting to keep up with the introduction of relevant risk-assessments! A great many of the fields have now been replaced by houses and there is much more traffic on the roads and parked in the streets. Today's pace of life is much faster and families seem to have to work long hours to get enough money to live on. In another 50 years time, I dare say that today's children will also look upon their childhood with fond memories!

Hello. Thank you for your comment. The song was written to draw attention to the plight of those who are homeless (especially at Christmas time). The song was written about forty years ago, and unfortunately Christmas is not always a happy time for everybody. The original Christmas message was to help one another, especially those in need. The plight of homelessness is just one example of where this is not happening. The alternative version of this song is called 'Remember Good King Wenceslas' and there is a link included in this video. Hi Mark. Yes it was a good day out. It's hard to imagine what life would have been like for the people inhabiting the castle back in mediaeval times. The scenery from the top of the towers is awesome. Still on the subject of scenery, if you have access to BBC iplayer, the 'Countryfile' programme televised approx. one month ago features Bannau Brycheiniog and discusses the changes in the management of the national park. They became famous for having a number one hit in the UK Singles Chart in 1964 with "Juliet". It was written by group members Fritz Fryer, Mike Wilsh and Lionel Morton. The ballad was originally intended for release as a B-side (b/w "Tell Me Girl"), but the record label (Philips) decided to release it as the A-side instead.

Ah, Ken that was so so beautiful. I'm truly touched. Yeah, it's exactly what we'd do - walk miles and miles, brew up, enjoy the birds and rivers and yeah the mountains. Thank you, Mark, I find that nature provides some of the best memories... sunrises, sunsets, starry nights, sunny days, mountains, rivers, forests, open fields, walks with friends etc. There are undoubtedly sad times, but hopefully, the good times give you precious memories to hold on to.
