Turns out the sound comes from primitive wavetable synthesis, based on what i found about the YM2022 chip: 'Interesting 9-voice PCM wavetable synthesizer. Uses external (up to) 4kbyte ROM with tiny sample loops and instrument parameters: each tone record is 64 bytes long and contains 32 wave points (8-bit signed) that get unfolded (reverse&invert) into 64; the rest of the record are parameters. Requires external DAC through custom serial bus.'
Hallo mein Freund!! Bitte helfen!!
The volatile memory can be defeated if turned back on faster than the memory whipe function. Knowing this can help you in the advent of a power cable getting plucked out. I normally keep mine on all the time and back up the MMT-8 sequences so that I can rerecord the sequences back to the MMT-8 (for traveling usually)
Peace be to you, The Yamaha aw2400 is open growth with ygdai modules. I run 3 of them with x 2 Waves Y96k 16 channels of waves. New machines were 3500 cdn with y96k 1500 cdn Jaw dropping ultra res consolettos with stuff from... Michael Gerzon, George Massenberg and Bob Ludwig. That midiverb was great amongst it's median of peers. Great video. "Do you know my friend Thomas?" Jesus asked me 8th day. Elijah with Enoch
Yes, it sends it as 8 monophonic sequences via MIDI channels 1-8. It can also send program change information, but there ist basicli no adjustment options.
no, I don't get it myself. I tried it once, but since it has no option on setting an equal step length (it's a real-time sequencer) and I am terrible at playing, I quickly stopped tinkering with it
On reverb.com, these go for several hundred bucks, but I got mine for 30 bucks from someone who had it lying in his attic. But to me, it's priceless. I use its organ sounds a ton, it's the only keyboard that has a permanent space in my synth rack
We could start some very biological discussion... For example, all of the MicroKorg's connectors are female... But maybe it identifies as male. I don't care. Gender has unfortunately become too much of a political topic, so I rather stay out of it. My love is universal. Call me Bi-musical
The found a roland alfa juno in a pawn shop in 1993 for $100 with some bad keys that i fixed , it has been a go to ever since. Great for tech base , lead and i have never listen to filters like it , the othe one is the waldorf pulse , the front 242 pulse album was named after it
Great outro song! you should release it :) I can't seem to find any pictures of the back of this keyboard. Could you please tell me what kind of I/O it has? I guess it was too early for midi, right? xD
it has a big headphone jack out and stereo cinch out as far as I remember. If I remember correctly there's no input and definitely there is no MIDI in/out. MIDI is really rare to find on 80s keyboards for the non-professional market. The Casio CT-6000 is the only non-synthesizer keyboard from the early MIDI era that I can think of right now. I am quite sure the PS-25 and its brothers even pre-date the introduction of MIDI. Really glad You liked the song!
I think the main reason these companies faded was that their instruments needed constant repair & maintenance. My Crumar trilogy spent more time on the repair bench than my home..
Ahhhh I had one of these, weighed an absolute tonne but built like a tank. Had the memory upgrade but eventually the screen faded and became too difficult to use. Loved the filter but its use become minimal so I sold it for about £50 🤦🏻♂️
I read about so many regrets in my comments... On my unit, the Tape deck broke, but i'm gonna upgrade it with a USB drive one day instead of selling it, that's what I've learned from here! It really weighs a ton... Heaviest Casio gear by miles!
i try to write after the second track but the sequencer doesn't work only the first 2 tracks i can record is it a hardware problem? great video thank you 🙏🏻🎹
I've owned one of these since 1993 and always enjoyed working with it when I was making my own music. What I never understood was how to utilize it with MIDI. How about a demonstration of that?
Sorry, it's too long ago to remember the patch. I think I went and modified the soundtrack and cello presets. It's several patches for pads, basses and melody that I layered in Ableton
