Founded in 2008, by nine-year-old Cassidy Megan of Nova Scotia, Canada, Purple Day is an international grassroots effort dedicated to increasing awareness about epilepsy worldwide. On March 26, people from around the globe are asked to wear purple and spread the word about epilepsy.
Why? Epilepsy affects over 50 million people worldwide. That's more than multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy and Parkinson's disease combined.
Why purple? Lavender is the international colour for epilepsy.
Getting involved is easy. Wear purple and encourage others to do the same. Host a Purple Day party or fundraising event at your home, school or business. And most importantly, get real facts about epilepsy by visiting www.purpleday.org.
I was diagnosed with Epilepsy when I was 2. Epilepsy gave me a speech impairment and a motor disability leading to flunking Kindergarten and I had to go to a special school because of it. I had my Seizure Tumor surgically removed when I was 8.

Cassy, don't worry about it. The stigmatization of people with epilepsy still exists. People don't know what epilepsy is. That is why there are Purple Day ambassadors all over the world. We teach what epilepsy is.
The unorganized library analogy is exactly how I see my memory. Spot on! Thank you. I used to get stressed out about looking for info in that mess, but now I laugh about it because it is what it is. Sure it’s natural to have some frustration from time to time, but mostly I shrug it off. It’s a lot easier and healthier to laugh at the mess than cry over it. 🤦🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️🤪😂

That was LOTS of fun and the end result looks delicious. I love that red vegetable cutter you used throughout - it’s genius. This video was a great example of showing people living with epilepsy can do anything they want to do as long as they have the passion and drive. Great job again, Cassidy. Very helpful for both people who are newly diagnosed with epilepsy as well as epilepsy warriors who may need a reminder of who to call should they forget to renew their medication. Since memory loss is common with epilepsy, this can very easily happen. Lots of great points throughout this podcast. I like the theme song too. 👏🏻

Great attitude from one who has a full life to live. From one who was diagnoged at age 14 & is now 71 & able to function normally with medication (My sister also has Epilepsy, but diagnosis was not until much older)
