I went out and had a bunch of pilchards that had been sitting in bucket from 7AM .... sent out a line with a smelly pilchard at about 3 PM ... wow caught a bunch of big mangroves. I think it was the bait... as these boys are sharp.
Yo. Nice day fishing. Who are those guest stars? One of them reminds me of Magnum PI aka Magnum PMD. IYKYK. On a side note I think a catch and cook show would be cool.
Those bait fish look sad. Oh well. Hey I was about to ask if those are the same Blue fish they catch in N.E. and you answered that at min. mark 3:07. Do they eat the same though? aka NASTY Ha.
Looks like lots of work but fun too. I think you caught a false albacore or a little tunny and not a bonito. Both are a blast to hook on a fly, but the bonito is edible.
I’m throwing a surf candy that I tie with faux bucktail. I have a video how I tie it on this channel. I find it really holds up well to toothy fish. Rod is an Echo ERP 9’ 10#.
This trip was slow deep water and about a month after the salmon spawn. When the salmon are in the river we always check below them when they are on gravel, but me personally I rarely see steelhead.
