Hello everyone! Welcome to the first episode of The Stew. Please let me know what you think about the format and the content. Video essays will still be releasing, and this will be a casual way for me to discuss media that recently meant a lot to me. This series will also be labeled a podcast on RU-vid. That means via the RU-vid Music App, you can listen to the audio or watch the video there (even in the background no fees added [i think]) Check it out there too Bonus content will be released on Patreon and if you'd like to share your thoughts, check the Patreon and Discord channels! Next month I'll most likely talk about House of the Dragon season 2, The Boys season 4, and Disco Elysium (if I can finish it). See you all then!
I've yet to watch the video, but I've been on a huuuuge Outer Wilds hyperfixation lately and hearing the theme in the background of the intro, even though it was super quiet, threw me super hard. Had to go listen to the Outer Wilds theme a few times before coming back.
SableStew, could you tell me if the following is plagiarism ? Let's say a like a small strategy game with quite simple mechanics. What if I create a similar game with different characters (different stats health/strength and different abilities), in order to have more possible strategies with this gameplay that I like. And the UI would be entirely different, but there would still be the same game phase, an amount of money to buy improvement and a similar way to make character evolve.
Hey! So I'm absolutely not an expert on plagiarism, but from your example it seems not likely to be plagiarism. As long as the art, characters, and general ideas for the game are unique to the creator then having similar gameplay elements or mechanics would not be seen as plagiarism. For example look at Slay the Spire vs Steamworld Quest. Two games with similar mechanics for combat but entirely different games that utilize them
I also thought the ghost chasing you is a cat and was wondering what it's doing in the dog area - it makes more sense for it to be a dog but it looks so much like the Cheshire cat, lol.
Why doesn't this have a million views? This is MARVELOUS! Well said! You get a standing ovation! Ted Lasso is a gift to humanity and hopefully its message will reach everyone it needs to reach, because it is a powerful and beautiful one 💯
So I just beat layer 2 and Platinum’d the game. This marks the first time I’ve done so and still want to continue playing. I can’t believe there’s still more. It just keeps going…becoming more addicting and more inspiring.
Thank you for this. This is wonderful and powerful and has me looking at this show in a new way. I never got a chance to say goodbye to my father either and that breaks my heart all the time. I've never truly dealt with it. I'm glad you did and that your realize how important that is
I didnt realize before that the bean actually just has his home. So at the beginning are we seeing it be born? Or is that not its house? It simply found the key to its predecessor's house? Or was it just taking a nap in that flower? Is each run the same creature or is it a new one? Does it die when it dies or does the phone actually revive it? I suppose the skulls in that one room have to come from somewhere... What if the phone is meant to tell the next bean how to get to the point that they are at, when chased by the dog they dont have enough time to tell the next one how to get through everything.
Coming in 2nd was winning. They started the season off having only just bounced back from relegation. Losing half their matches in the season to making it to the final. The journey was better than the results. It didn't need a super happy ending.
interesting interpretation of the game. If I had to describe it as horror, I would say it's soft horror, as nothing in the game necessarily is there to scare you, but become scary because of what it means for you. The kangaroos are just kangaroos, chameleon just a lizard, and they're really just minding their own business, but it is because you are the prey that they are so threatening. I found the game more atmospheric and thrilling than horrifying, but that is just my experience
If you scan the Animal Well title as a barcode, you get: 44446666 (EAN: 8) I'm interpreting this as infinite Hell. I discovered this just tonight after thinking the title probably even has a secret, and yes, it does appear so. 4 is associated with death in Japan; it is a cursed number just as 666 is here. And region codes, or EAN numbers can sometimes be seen printed sideways, which may appear as an infinity symbol. I really don't think it's a coincidence
Very well put. You just reinforced what I got out the show. I've repeatedly watched it as it's emotional rollercoaster effect I find addictive. It's easy to see why people love it as they are expressing in these comments. But I feel I have to let this show go now. At least until the Blu-ray comes out!
“The first time I played it on the Xbox 360, I was immediately enraptured” I see what you did there. Also, this essay was genuinely fucking incredible. I in particular love the last 10 minutes. This video was put together very well
I think second place in the Premier league after being regulated the year prior with essentially the same team is something to be extremely proud of (border line impossible).
Slay the Princess is definitely on my list to play but I had no idea about the Pristine Cut. That will most likely be something I wait for, but I'm excited to play it and potentially make a video about it!
This is more than a simple review of succession, is a very deep conversation about life. That happened to me when I immigrate 2 times in my life the second time was more difficult because I achieve a high standard of living due to a great work but then I got little bit lost in how to enjoy it
Thank you so much for sharing. I hope you are doing well and taking time to enjoy life more. Though work may provide a better life, not spending the time to enjoy life makes the work meaningless. Thank you for watching!
@@sablestew Is difficult when you really like what you do and define yourself but I used the same drives for different goals. I really like this video because in the road of success even when you are already succesfull is not an easy route even though you have money.
To be honest, I had clung to the idea of it being a ghost cat based on looks but after reviewing all the data, I was totally wrong on that one. I'm team ghost dog
@@WeekndWarriorrr Have you ever seen a cat before? The ghost dog has a constantly wagging tail and its tongue is constantly lolling out, not to mention how it howls.
@@mr.cup6yearsago211 I never said it acts like a cat. I said it looks like a cat. It is a dog, but it looks like a cat. Mostly due to not being able to see it's snout because it's 2D. I have 5 cats btw. Pretty sure I know what cats look like. 😂 Are you saying it doesn't look like a cat or just it doesn't act like a cat?
Gimme that gif of SpongeBob and Patrick on the rollercoaster Only kidding - definitely a few good scares in this game, and the atmosphere is so unique and unsettling!
What an excellent video essay. Several things you said stuck out to me and not just for the game. Even Hell can be made comfortable. Powerful! Many people are Living in a comfortable hell. But not to get too deep or dark, just wanted to say great job on this!
Yesss this!!! This is the reminder I needed. Sometimes we get too comfortable in something we know is not the best for us but we're too afraid of change to take that leap forward that could lead us to something better
It's certainly reaching but I don't think his interpretation is meant to be literal, so his opinion can't be wrong. If he feels like solving infinite puzzles forever while random creatures attacking you unprovoked feels like hell then it certainly can be. Personally I felt a sense of awe of nature playing the game, like I was insignificant and trying to decode the greater mysteries of the universe. It's only after I rolled credits and started looking into the deeper puzzles that I started to feel helpless and lost at the complexity and scope of it all
@@RemyBustaniIn my opinion, this game has no some "deep philosophical message". Its got good puzzles, music, graphics, but no story. Compare it to Rain World. Rain world has it all, even serious story and philosophical thinking.
I’m so glad I’m not the only one who sees how dark Animal Well feels!!!! In my opinion the sound design is what really pushes it over the edge into true horror!!!
