Brutal, toca a Chopin de una manera tan personal y sincera, tan alejada del sentimentalismo y la frase fácil, que estoy perplejo. Hay dolor, pérdida, contrastes, belleza quebradiza, pura magia musical.

A Tempo nightmare for any concert pianist. This Scherzo by Chopin requires the handling by a true expert in the piano music of Chopin. And Maestro Arrau is one of the very best.

I'm listening on an earphone and I'm almost convinced Lugansky needs to bring his own recording technician with him. His playing is obviously superb, I've seen him live in two concerts. The recording quality always leaves things to be desired. This one is too low, has a thin middle, no brilliance on top, and no bass oomph. In short, it's meh. Again, I'm just talking about the recording quality, not his playing.

What a lot of drivel about one detail, read the written score sensibly like a sincere performer. It is clear to see. OK to accommodate when a hand cannot cope with a Rachmaninov stretch ! The complex passages are a massive challenge- I struggle!
It makes complete sense at that speed! I have no idea why other pianists do not seem to notice that, as you actually start slower when you learn and practice the piece anyway. Most kill it with rushing and make it a confusing mess of dissonances!
