During the lockdowns over 3,000 Brits applied to help out on the farms. Why was only about 850 given interviews and only about 300 were hired? Food security is essential. A farm near us would like to cover the farm with solars panels, everyone in the village is against it, and solar panels are can't be eaten and they can't be recycled either. The same with wind farms.
I applied to a nearby farm and was told to wait two weeks and check with them again. I did and was told: all vacancies were filled. Of course they prefer to use Easrern European workers, living on site (and paying for it) and the closing of the borders did not apply to them.
Non-farmer and not an NFU member here but please do keep this Channel up and running. I’m an outsider to the industry but learn so much from channels such as this one. You only have to look Gareth Wyn Jones and Olly Harrison’s RU-vid updates and viewing figures to realise how much interest and interaction there is on these platforms. Putin did a far better job for agriculture than the west has done. Putin invested in his Russian agriculture for the last 20 years, for food security for his people. God made the farmers, sing it loud and clear!.
You say government! I say criminals! Not just our gov but most across the western world! Bringing in all these so called laws to restrict and control us. I don't know why more people can't see this. There's no debate, science is cherry picked. If they've got money for farmers to not grow crops, Why don't they subsidise the farmer to grow crops in a more organic way? They're doing what they like and no one is allowed to challenge them! That's my piece, thanks.

Are we growing Pak Choi in the UK. All the Pak Choi that I buy in store is from aboard. When I was growing it, it likes Spring and Autumn weather. Pak Choi is high in nutrients and quick to cook. It's also great for people on a low oxalate diet.
Food security is a priority and investment in our own agriculture. We also have to protect our bio-diversity like Australia does. I applaud the temporary ban on dogs being brought in from Eastern Europe, that should be a permanent ban. I don't think people should be able to travel with their dogs and bring them back into the country. Far too many diseases are being brought into the country that are not native to the UK. DEFRA should also be able to tell us when various non-native diseases arrived and where from on their website. I phoned DEFRA about "Fox lungworm" and they never got back to me. My young dog also caught HEMORRHAGIC GASTROENTERITIS that has a huge impact on livestock. I read that 400,000 cows died of it in Japan.

River Wye nearly dead due to all the chicken crap that farmers dump into it. NFU response: 'pollution not caused by farming'. Seriously. You could not make this up. The only thing more full of crap than the Wye is the NFU. You aren't supporting farmers if you don't have any credibility.
