Sabrina here! Let me see if I can help. It is hard to imagine all the details without the actual Guides in front of you. Remember that if you buy the bundle and it isn’t going to work for you, we have a 10-day money back guarantee, no questions asked! Note-taking is just a matter of having your guide open nearby as you read, and following prompts in the guide for noting ideas you may need later for a writing assignment. Vocabulary instruction is detailed in each guide. Grammar is included in the form of the Grammar Granules guide, a quick-reference or brush-up resource. For students who have had little formal grammar in the younger grades, there are suggestions you can add from other sources.

Hi Vicki! Thank you so much for making this video. It has answered a lot of my questions! I still have some questions - In the part where you show the syllabus, it says a few things I would love some clarification on.... > "Read chapter --- and take notes" .... Does the curriculum teach how to take notes / what they need to be writing? > "work on vocabulary" ... Does the actual assignment show what vocabulary they are to be working on and what "work on vocabulary" means? > "optional grammar".... is that included in the curriculum and just optional for students that need the extra help or is it not apart of the bundle?

Thank you so much for this, ladies!! 👏🏼🙏🏼💗 Fellow military spouse homeschooling mom here (11 yrs). I’m about to graduate my oldest this year, it’s a little nerve wrecking so it’s encouraging to hear from those who have been there/done that. I appreciate you!

Once I realized that prying stories from my relatives were important to me, I juiced stories out of them for all it's worth. 🙂 Great idea. .🌻

Our umbrella states it as “English 9, English 10,” etc. it has to be grammar, literature and writing, we have to list those three components to umbrella.

All 7Sisters titles are ebook, so purchase gets you a PDF file that can be printed if you prefer a paper copy.

I am completely flabbergasted that an English credit should include literature, grammar, vocabulary, and spelling. I attended a small private boarding school in Pennsylvania for tenth grade through twelfth grade and never once did we do grammar, vocabulary, or spelling. It was assumed that we all knew this stuff by tenth grade. As students, I think we would have been insulted at the insinuation that we needed a grammar or spelling class. Do colleges really expect to see these things on a high school transcript?! Oh, this method of no grammar, spelling, or vocabulary works just fine. I passed the AP English test as did most of my classmates. I apologize if I sound confrontational. I am genuinely shocked.

We read lots and lots of books and had occasional essays, but no training on how to write an essay. We were supposed to have learned that in middle school.

We didn’t do grammar, vocabulary, or spelling in my high school classes. But there were some remedial type classes some of my friends took which offered those components. I tested out of English 101 and 102 for college, but I think there was a bit of grammar in even some of those early college classes. I know the remedial classes offered it. I ended up teaching undergraduates while I was in graduate school. The class was related to public policy (so not language arts). Sadly, not one person in that very large class could properly construct a sentence and/or relay a coherent thought. They should have all failed on that alone. They weren’t allowed to fail. This was a fairly large and somewhat reputable state university. I write all that to say, most high schoolers still need to work on basic language mechanics.

Good Point. May it be ebook or paper and pen, in homeschooling, they can choose to work through their curriculum as quickly or slowly as they feel comfortable doing, establishing their own pace. A child who struggle in one or more areas academically should consider homeschooling as an excellent one-to-one environment to learn the skills necessary to catch up. Anne HomeschoolingOption.com/
