All things aside; I have to say that engraving is absolutely gorgeous. Whereas Selmer’s new engravings (first seen on the series III & continued in the same vein on the Supreme) have been a HUGE miss in my humble opinion.
hey Derek, that’s a really interesting looking mouthpiece as well. Do you mind sharing with us what that is? Hopefully you will do a video on it soon. Keep up the great work, my man.
@@SaxSpy Awesome. Does Eric Falcon still do the finishing work for MacSax? As a fellow refacer I find his work to be very clean and well executed. anyways, I’m sure I speak for everyone when I say this, but we would love for you to put out a video on it even if it’s just a short. Thank you again you’re my favorite RU-vidr for saxophone shorts. 🎷😍
Def vinty for me..Just bought a vintage 10m..don't see the lady on it..though its a bit worn on the bore and is a 1961, which may not have her on it..But unforunately doesn't play and will have to put money into it..new pads, oil, springs etc..But even then will still have spent the same had I bought one which was ready to play..
Why is this video titled that it is comparing a Mark VII? As for me, I am the original owner of my MkVII. I love it and would never trade it for a MkVI.
i dont know any serious teacher that wouldnt allow a sax based on finish color... except a marching band that matches all silver but theyd probably provide the instrument
Can you speak on what the longevity of this horn may look like? Do you think that the materials of the horn and its construction would affect how it would be maintained and repaired down the line compared to other brands like Selmer, Yamaha, Yanagisawa, etc? Moreover, are the parts used pretty standard, e.g., the types of springs, rods, etc? Sorry if this sounds like an interrogation. I don't know much about sax repair, and as much as I want to like the Nexus saxophones, I'm still skeptical about how it holds up long term.
Predictable, and knowing how the Supreme collectors go unfortunately very few of them will actually get played since they likely aren't sax players. Bummer since Selmer Supremes, both alto and tenor are supposed to be fantastic horns.
Ha ha! I love my Supreme but yes the name is egotistical beyond all measure, and deserves to be ridiculed. Maybe they should have called it the Selmer Concept instead. Or Series IV. Or anything.
a 400 series yamaha would be nice. some broadway guys like the old golden era haynes. i have one and they handle more air than japanese flutes but arent quite as easy to play
i’m curious about the V 21 as I’ve never had an opportunity to try one. In your opinion, would you say they are darker than a regular blue box? Also would you say they are more or less resistant as a blue box? Thank you buddy
