What happened to the scores of people employed by steam loco sheds across India? I have vivid memories of men who used to ride their bicycles past our railway house daily. They were all employed at the loco shed or railway workshops that were geared for steam. A huge number were employed for cleaning and others supplemented their incomes by collecting coal!
Soon, decades later, the diesel and electrics that directly replaced steam would suffer a similar fate, I’m just glad some old diesels and electrics are preserved and cared for!
Would’ve been cool if at least one of these locomotives from the contest got to see preservation, but it seems that none of their classes are extinct! (I could be wrong tho)

To answer your question, I moved to the usa a few short months after uploading this video and life changed quickly. I stopped uploading for many years. I recently started this channel (nomaddict) .. I will take your suggestion seriously and do this song again with much higher quality.
I am currently at Pondicherry now, and have arrived by train. The Palur station is now back in operation, with like 35 trains halting there daily. The Pondicherry Special is now up and running as an electric train. But it lacks the charm it had in the olden days!😢 Nowadays, it is converted to Broad Gauge and electrified, but is still single tracked.
