I'm on a similar journey. I had tradition locs, very thick and heavy for 8 years...I was missing styling options. My locs were also interlocked, so had a hard time combing them out...as a result I did a big chop...I decided that I'm going to loc again, do a smaller set so that I can still do crochet styles & etc. when I get a feeling to switch up...I did my research and decided to do micro braid locs, which fits my lifestyle...good luck on your journey. Peace and blessings to you always. ❤
I love this! Thank you for sharing your journey! All Locs are beautiful but as we go on our journey we know what works best for us in the long run. May God bless you abundantly as well!
Hey what’s the update on the holes in your locs? I also have holes in mine and bunching and my front and sides unravel. So I have similar issues as you.
I still have some and even new ones! I’m thinking it’s due to my reties not being started where they left off because many are at the root after a retie. I signed up for the sisterlock class to learn to do my own. I’m hoping they share how to fix it in that class s
New subscriber. Oh my gosh, I have found someone who is experiencing the same challenges as me. I'm 4 months in, it's the unravelling in the front and the holes.
Idk how old this is but it’s because your rotations aren’t the same pattern so it causes holes. Might want to get a new loctitian. No shade by any means
I had trad locs as well cut them off never thought they looked right on me. Waited a couple of years now I'm going to try micro braid locs I think they will suit me better!
I started my own microlocs 8 months ago, my mom has had traditional locs for 7 years. She wanted microlocs but her loctitian insisted she get a small set of traditional locs. We're going to comb out her locs at the end of the year and give her a set of micros
Love your energy, it got me to watch the whole video lol. But also, I cant believe this hasnt been addressed! What are the blind baddies who want locs (like me) supposed to do?!
Yours looks amazing ❤ I Kenya Africa, they charge max of 200 dollars for sister locs installation max and maintenance 25 to 30 dollars . I think because is a 3rd world country
Sisterlocks work on all hair types. What may happen from my understanding is that instead of smaller locks they will be medium small on finer hair and those will swell over time to make sure your Locs are nice and firm. They are still sisterlocks but your consultant will be able to explain the difference in sizes. All sisterlocks are small but depending on your hair texture how small will vary. Good luck 🍀
Be patient Sis, those two corners will become many individual Sisterlocks, your locktitian will not lock them into existing locks as they're forming your hairline.🙏🏾🥰
My hair is fine. I had smaller traditional locs for 5 years and just combed them out. I have microlocs now and I’m happy but I miss my length. Can’t wait for these babies to flourish!
I'm thinking about locing by hair. This is the first video I've found that has helped me understand the difference between microlocs and sisterlocs in a concise way. Now i know, if i move forward with locs, sisterlocs are for me because of the consistency. Thanks for sharing your tips.
I just cut off four years of locs… they were long.. I had traditional locs.. as soon as my hair grow back im getting micro locs.. our stories are similar… when I was a loose natural I kept it simple just blue magic and oil.. I used blue magic when I had locs too lol.. i miss my babies I hate combing my hair 😂😂😂
I have a video explaining that decision titled why I went from traditional Locs to sister locs about 2 months back. It answers all those questions in detail 😉! I absolutely loved my first set so it wasn’t an easy thing to do.
Another main difference is Sisterlocks is a patented brand that the creator makes a tidy income from. Micro locs can be started in many many ways that’s true. But the health of Sister or micro locs depends highly upon the loctitian or maintenance if yiu self retie. Your starter locs look lovely have a fabulous journey 😊🇬🇧
You’re welcome, I just subbed & interested to see how they bloom. I started my own 4.5 yrs ago I have just under 190 & toying with undoing some to add more fullness to the crown area. Anyhoo during my journey I started 2 sisters my 73yr old mom & 2 sons on their local journeys. Boys have traditional re twist locs rest have small interlocks as we didn’t want them too small or the lengthy retie times as we look after each others due to lack of loc hairstylists in my uk city 😊
I was 13 months micro locked with shaved sides. I decided I wanted a full head of locs. I tried to grow my sides in but the struggle was real. I decided I wanted Sisterlocks’s so I cut my locs . now my hair is an inch and a half all over. I can’t wait until October when my hair is long enough for my installation.
Thank you for sharing your experience! I’m sure shaved sides with micro Locs were 🔥! Once you come back with your sisterlocs I’m sure they will be equally as beautiful! Good luck on your journey
