The 6530 and another 6500 were purchased from a quarry plant road near Millville, WV a few years ago. Although not the original paint, the numbers are the original B&O numbers. Still has the original control stand, 24RL air, and runs long hood forward like the Good Lord intended.
I had too before I got them here. Unfortunately this is the only train I think of that has came east on that portion of the line during the day in a long long time. Especially not being backlit.
Frames get cracks after years of hard use. Electrical wiring begins to decay with age. Components just wear out and need to be replaced, and eventually replacing the entire locomotive begins to become cheaper than fixing up and replacing all of the old worn-out parts on the older locomotives, that's why locomotives have a finite lifespan. However, smaller switching locomotive for yard work are not being made anymore, so old ones should be rebuilt where ever possible.
My son is special needs and he loves trains 🚆🚂🚃🚄🚅🚇🚈🚉🚊🚝🚞🚋🛤 they're one of his favorite things in the whole world 🌎! He especially likes F Units, GP9's, and bl2's but he hopes that real soon or sooner than soon that the rusty E unit at 13:15 will be restored to operation and the steam locomotive behind it because he loves steam locomotives and E units too.
Cool video...I actually live in Russellton and have never heard it be called North Russellton...it's just Russellton! I've lived here my whole life and thats 50+ years.
You must remember..everything has a time and place..There time has gone..not really sad as they served us well. Made this country great. I am old man of 84 years old. So my time will be over....the bell will toll. Not sad for me. I have lived a good life and GOD has blessed me indeed. Soon, do not know when but I am going to a better place indeed. Praise GOD ! 😊
And I had a dream that my train loving son and I went to heaven, and the whole place was covered in railroad tracks! So many, Standard Gauge down to about 1ft . gauge ❤ God bless!
My God, it breaks my heart to see these beautiful giants of the rails like that! Thousands of miles covered and each one has a story from a better time! I would love to be there to admire them again! It's bad that they have to die!!!!!
I would love to see these be remove the engines and stored for mini homes, parks, dinning cars. Make the old days come back with a 2024 or older style .
OMG those BN EMD F units deserve to be restored/preserved. Sad to see so many glorious diesels in various conditions of Salvage/parts. Neat seeing original SF, BN, SP, & Conrail units!
💐✨🌹✨💐 It's ofcourse a little bit sad to see, all these " dead " locomotives, their wagons/cars to..BUT I have a really good 💡😊💡 In the USA.. there's so MAAAAANY homeless on the streets..there's many empty cities to, where surely railroad tracks go to as well...and in all these trains, there's trillions tons of iron/steel to ..so ..there's work for homeless people.. empty cities, there's home for homeless..send the trains to empty cities, where homeless people can cut up the trains, give them a good salary for this work ..the state will have income by the tax, and later sale of aaallll these maaaaany trillions of steel...and in the end..also..nature be clean up.. 🙂🙂 Some of the best locomotives and wagons.. maybe can be sold by Auctions ...so..all these trains actually can realize many money..and make many people happy..instead of it just are parked everywhere 🙂 💐✨🌹🌼🌹✨💐
That's got to be one of the largest SuperFund sites we've ever seen!! That facility specializes in extracting EVERY possible dollar that's left that can be generated by this machine that's now at the end of it's useful service life. From the sale of still useful parts to the final act of scrapping what's left for the metal content and it's sale so to speak, not much goes to waste here!! Excellent video too...
Distressing to say the least. A loco lasts for 30 to 50 years and is left to rust for 20 or 30 more years disseminating their innards at the rusting yard. But life has to go on for millions more years. Imagine over the years how many locos will retire and rust and discharge their toxic innards at their resting or rusting places. A day may come when the rusting places will be so toxic that nobody will be able to go within miles of such places to even clean it up. Better it is to tone down our way of living and start living a more frugal life and less environmentally damaging way of life. Governments should not only count GDP or per capita income as the standards to assess quality of life.
