sand gobby are super cool ! but are also annoying had to re home mine he makes caves and can knock your rock over and also spit sand on your lower corals
My friend buy ur self Seachem stability this ur biological booster. And seachem Prime this ur water conditioner. This 2 together awesome power house . Plus if any questions this company will be glad to help
This isn’t the best video for people trying to start a reef tank. That rock was not live, it was dry, no bacteria on it. Same with the ceramic rings. They were not wet, bacteria will die even if it was wet during shipping/transport. You should never put rock on sand. You should always do your rock scape first and then put the sand in. This will prevent rocks falling because of sand movement. Purple up is unnecessary, coraline will come over time. Going to a canister filter is a nitrate factory unless you just pack it with live rock, you’re way better off with a sump. A HOB filter with the carts in it is a waste of time unless you’re just looking for more flow. Bacteria in a bottle is ok, but really unnecessary, you can just feed the tank and kick off the cycle that way. If you want to use bacteria use dr Tim’s. If you want to start a tank on the cheap…buy a tank, some live rock, a heater and a power head. Get everything going and you’ll want an auto top off pretty quickly which isn’t bad for most tanks. Make sure to do your research and ask as many questions as you can.
This is for people wanting a saltwater tank first. Not a reef tank. The ceramic rings were wet and had bacteria on them. My rocks have never fallen over for the 4 months I’ve had the tank up from sand. The rocks now are definitely live rocks and have coraline growing on them as well speak. It’s actually a perfect starter saltwater tank. This is meant for people to try saltwater out. Not jump right into corals and reef tanks. I plan on making this a reef tank now that it is matured however.
@@PAFishinReefin it is very up priced I don’t no what you guys would pay for a tiger king angle fish but it’s priced at 5 thousand up here there’s a few different angles that cost any where from 2 thousand to almost 6 grand pretty crazy 😖
@@PAFishinReefin just check out candy corals there based out of Toronto I buy all my goods from there cause I don’t have a local LFS that deals with salt water without taking a 2 hour drive..
@@Justin89125 cheapest tiger angelfish I found here is 1.8k but other people sell them for about 4.8 to 5.5k also. So it depends on who you buy it from. lol
@@PAFishinReefin I know in your first video you said you were upgrading the lights to a more powerful one. I was curious as to what you’re upgrading to
Petco gave me a sick Firefish he only lasted about a week unfortunately. Noticed a day or two after that he had ich and I put him in a hospital tank and treated him but he unfortunately didn’t make it. That’s why I’m abit iffy at times about buying Petco fish.
I used to hunt but not eat these in my creek in my back yard in Washington PA i always thought they were to small to ealt as a kid i remember lifting up rocks & they would always be under em in the creek
Thanks! Most of the fish that get real big in that tank will go into a bigger one once they outgrow it. I plan on getting a display tank for my living room area that’s 120 Gallons 😁
That’s not true, download the app “shop” then find them on there, they’re always in stock with stuff. When they are out of stock it’s only for about a couple days. It’s a first come first serve type of fish store because they sell what they capture from the Florida keys.
Does the purple up really work ? Ive had my tank running 8 months no caroline algae whatsoever. I have purple rocks though just to make it look better from the start.
Purple rocks are always a go too, they still give off that coraline algae look to the rocks. It does work once you get past the ugly stage of the cycling process which includes the brown diatom then green algae faze, after that coraline algae starts to grow then you use purple up. I just put mine in early to help speed the process because the rocks I used already had beneficial bacteria on them before I put them into this new tank.
My cousin has been asking me to help her set up a 20L or 40B and I think we're going to do something similar to this. Softies and just a few fish and inverts. One thing I would suggest for people that want to go this route is that AquaClear filters are very customizable and versatile. There's enough space in a AC70-110 to run filter floss for mechanical filtration, chaeto for natural nutrient reduction as well as bio media and or a small heater. Also they sell 3D printed surface skimmer attachments for the AquaClear that makes it run like a overflow which takes care of all your surface scum.
I have a simple pico reef 5.8 Waterbox AC50 with rings and chemipure blue Kessil a80 blue Xenia, GSP, Leathers, favia, mushrooms and a Duncan Darwin clown A few inverts Super easy and low maintenance, I haven’t done a WC in months I dose with reef plus and add phylogreens. That’s it. It’s probably my easiest tank
Before People Get Upset. This was pre recorded! The fish being in there was temporary for a few days and then they were removed from the nano and added to the 45 Gallon breeder I just set up!!!! It’s all good! The fish are healthy and happy!
And Yes before the Tang Police show up, that was a juvenile Blue Hippo Tang in the one clip of the tank! When this was filmed she was only in there for about a day or two and I moved her to my 55 gallon tank I just set up!! She’s very happy in her new tank and she will be upgraded to a bigger tank when she outgrows the 55! She’s not in the Pico anymore! Lol
Great choice for nano, they do prefer to live with at least 2 or 3 in a group but wull be fine alone im sure. I love keeping them in big groups theyre so awesome to watch
It’s the Topfin 5.5 Gallon Aquarium starter kit from petsmart but to get it to look like mine you can watch my “budget saltwater aquarium” video here! 👉🏻 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-km0cxdlwxHo.htmlsi=vMk0Etwrn4myH3SS
Petco fish aren’t always so bad. Sure, the capture methods are poor, but most of those fish are one month in quarantine away from being an awesome (and sometimes cheaper) display fish. People can blab all they want, but I have several fish from Petco that I’ve had for multiple years now. If your fish are sick and dying a few days after bringing them home, first of all, it’s because of YOU. Secondly, focus on diet and nutrition multiple small feedings a day… with food they would eat in the wild (or similar protein content) watch that fish make a full recovery 7/10 of the times.. there are exceptions, I would never go out of my way to get something with something on it like Ich, but again medicine and quarantine is the correct answer, and I’ve quickly realized that fish CAN be SAVED.
Good choice!! I have two fire goby's in my nano tank and they are great. Keep in mind that goby's like to dig and hide, you might need more/a bigger rock structure for him to feel save. It took my goby's some time and they are the only fish in my tank. Enjoy!!
I added more live rock to it! You’ll see it in the next video! I love Firefish! They’re one of my favorite nano reef fish! 🐠 If you could like and subscribe I’d appreciate it!
That Nicrew grew sps in a 3 gallon pico in my experience! I’d suggest adding more silicone around the perimeter of the light shield, or cover the part of the tank it’s over with a piece of a acrylic as mine got fog inside and quit working within 4 months :/
@@CoralReefkid it’s beautiful!!!! I’m getting obsessed too lol 😂 I started off freshwater but when I saw corals and the vibrant reef fish and the way they look I fell in love with saltwater. I love my freshwater fish but still it’s hard to go back now haha
Everyone, This is mainly for people wanting to test out the hobby to see if they like it, then if they continue it they can upgrade. Mainly for people to know that you don’t have to spend thousands to have 1 simple saltwater tank and down the road if it’s just not for you, you can stop and switch to freshwater which is easier. It’s all about trying out new things in the hobby. 👍🏻
You’re going to end up spending more money in the long run if you buy a cheap piece of equipment and then buy an expensive one, just start off with a nice equipment you’ll end up, saving money down the line

@@PAFishinReefinexactly. People who want to start out should not be spending a lot of money, because 6 months down the line they might feel like its not for them
I would do two small fish max, maybe a pair of clownfish or a Firefish and a type of damsel fish, any saltwater fish that doesn’t get to big would be best!
@@reef.villain Its a 5.5, clowns don’t get very big and it’s not fish torture many people have clowns in nano and pico reefs. I also stated damsels are a good choice too. If not two, one clown is fine but they are better as a pair.
@@reef.villain also if you have an anemone clowns rarely swim away from them so they don’t need a huge amount of space. Even the big popular reef RU-vidrs will tell you that.
@@reef.villain If or when it outgrows it I’ll put it in my big tank, not a big deal. I have 4 saltwater tanks running. Two of them big tanks, My fish are fine.
I removed him and took him back to the store. My blue was terrorizing him. When I updgrade my tanks and turn my 40. Gallon into a saltwater tank I’ll get another.
