its always upset me that all the F-14's were destroyed/made displays and we dont have any flying here anymore just because Iran bought some in the 70's. We should have a few that still fly for shows, they were too iconic to just throw away.
I couldn't imagine the sweat of both pilots will be once they are out of the cockpit.. Ask any fighter pilots.. Probably loose pounds too.. It's like going to the gym with heavy workout non stop for half an hour
+@calaiscruiser This is one of four flyable new-build examples with GE turbines. There is an original restored for short flights but ground testing is not complete to begin test flying.
Such a stunning and handsome aircraft! I remember watching them practice from the flight deck of my ship! At U.S. Naval Air Station Cubi Point, Naval Base Subic Bay, Philippines Soooooo impressive!
I wish they kept the F-14 Tomcat for airshows in the USA. They could show what the F-14 was capable of doing and how we used to do air dominance versus how we do it now! Of course, I've never seen the Tomcat at an airshow because I was literally born a month before they retired the Tomcat (they retired it on September 22nd, 2006 according to Google. I was born on August 9th, 2006.) but it is my favorite aircraft simply because of how badass it is!
Sick Demo ! Definitely they demo team from RCAF should make their Gen Z guys watch these old Cats really perform for the crowd ! The one at Abby today smelt like piss ! Still love the Hornet ! It's all about the pilot !
From the beginning of 96 through the end of 99 I was an Airframes Mechanic there at VF-101. I just retired in 2023 and have been privileged to have been aprt of many great commands doing many great things BUT! The memories I have of Virginia Beach, VF-101 and the F-14 Tomcats I worked on haunt my mind in the most beautiful way imaginable. They say that a mechanic can develop a bond with the machine they take care of. It's true. I dearly miss that bird.
Never got to witness one of these demos. I was just starting school when they were retired. Glad to see the demo here on RU-vid. My first exposure to the F-14 was watching The Final Countdown. Didn’t know it was retired until I google searched it, and was surprised to discover it’s huge online fan base. Something about a 1986 film. Couldn’t have been Iron Eagle, that film introduced me to the F-16. All kidding relating to The Movie aside it’s an incredible airplane, and a coworker’s father was involved with cockpit avionics integration back at Grumman. ST-21 would’ve been nice.
Couldn't Agee any more than you can it's dick cheney he's is the reason why the f-14 retired he said there not cost affective and high maintenance cost. Grumman tried to revive the f-14, known as the F-14 Super tomcat 21 way more advanced than the FA-18 super hornet big mistake indeed.
Mid 80's I drove for Data-Dispatch in Golden Valley Minnesota. One of My nightly pick ups was at KMSP to meet a Dash 8. I came in the security gate, rounded the building and there sat two F-14's on the ramp. I met My plane then went to look at the Tomcats. I was able to walk right up to them. Guards saw me, said nothing (Times have changed). I wasn't aware of just how big those things were. They are massive. I was 45 minutes late on the rest of My night.
An den Style einer Tomcat kommt bis jetzt kein anderer Jet auch nur ansatzweise ran...., es ist eine Sauerei das alle,, Cat's "geschreddert wurden und keine einzige für eine Flugschow übrig ist😢
