This is becoming an all too familiar picture as the volunteer services continues to dwindle from multiple reasons. Thankfully the Troopers stepped in and helped out. Someone on the video said there is only one truck with one guy and the Troopers we trying to put it out. If one of those Troopers was hurt or killed during this their families may have to bear that burden as firefighting is likely not in their job description. You get what you pay for and in this video, it shows a real deficiency at this time of day for this department. This is not an uncommon problem nationwide for the volunteer and call services on a daytime response.
There were sooooo many people driving into the neighborhood to see it, the roads were all blocked. I live approx 12 doors down and we couldn't get out of our driveway for a long time, not bc of the fire trucks but bc of all the people driving into the neighborhood. It was ridiculous! No I don't think that first house could have been saved at all at any point, because that fire just spread so fast but maybe have people not been blocking the entry to the neighborhood, and the whole street, they could have stopped the second house from burning. It was actually disgusting how on display it was. It was like people are watching a TV show and they didn't even live in the neighborhood.
People should refrain from commenting when taking videos like this. It makes you sound ignorant, like you know better than those who are trying to do something.
All but one company was volunteer it takes time to go to the hall get a truck and get to the scene also depends on the materials fire moves very rapidly nowadays. The wind also didn’t help very much many factors were against them today
Niagara County fire departments are all volunteer. So it takes awhile for the communications center to get the call. Then get an address. Dispatch the multiple companies assigned on the box alarm. Then the firefighters have to drop whatever they are doing and go to the fire house. Wait for other qualified interior firefighters to arrive. Put on their gear. Get in the truck. Then proceed to the scene. So yeah it is a lengthy process
