I'm glad to see someone is capturing the Veterans stories for future generations to come. Hopefully they will learn something. Thank you for your service Trooper Speranza Sir. I also thank you for friendship, that really meant a lot to me. SALUTE. RIP my friend.
Sadly, Mr. Speranza died August 2, 2023. He made it to almost a hundred, and died at the age of 98. In 2019, he parachuted over the Netherlands, in remembrance of Market Garden.
The greatest generation! Guys like this is why my brother joined the Army's 101 st. Airborne in 1968! Then was sent to Viet Nam! Bless all those who served!!
I am honored to be from the same town. He has dedicated his life to educating and helping others. Even when he was in his 80s he substitute taught me in High School. Everyone loves him and is still active in the community.
Like a lot of guys, including my dad, who served with the 101st Airborne and the 501st Parachute infantry like Vic here, they got transferred to the "AA" 82nd Airborne near the end of the European occupation. I know this really bugged my dad to be discharged back in America as a member of the 82nd. Not that the 82nd were any slouches by any means, but the bond formed with his buddies during DDay, Holland and Bastogne and at Berchtesgaden was unlike an other. I have heard of the Airborne beer. Have to find some. I miss these guys I got to know. All but gone now.
Brave men fighting a war that USA's Godless evil Democrat's surrendered all China and half of Europe to the Godless evil commies, at the Yalta sell-out! Commies soon murdered 110 million and enslaved 1 billion people, giving us Korea & Vietnam's 100,000 KIA's! All stuff dumb down educated/ P.C. groupthink suckers & fools can't even think about let alone talk about! All to promote Godless Marxist socialism! (Still alive & well today!) God help us!
Great story. These stories must be preserved for future generations. My father served in WW II and the stories he told were the funny ones. I and my son wish to extend to the remaining vets of this war our deepest respect and gratitude.
