Good thing MM didn't bring a 930 case in two this demo. 930 would of given everyone a run for the money. 806& 4020 stop. 930 is like 900 it doesn't

They had a solid tuff engine and it was very dependable and fairly easy to over haul I still think they were better than jd but that’s just me If they had had the backing JD dealership had they would still be around 😢😢😢

We sold new MM tractors. I remember them very well. M670 may have lasted well. But the 5 star, M5, and 670 engines vibrated. Would rattle the hood. Seen a blown engine from ether cold start. Rod tore off. Holes in crankcase. Broke out bottom of one block. Knocked the starter off. Expensive repair.

We had a G 1000. I liked the slower running engine and how much weight was in the tractor. I always held it would have outpulled our our ih 1066. But we cracked and welded all 3 blocks in it. After the next crack we scrapped it.

Used a M670 Super Diesel on the farm for years. Pulled a 14 foot disc and baled hay, etc. Very good fuel economy.

I’m surprised there aren’t more comments. This is a hell of an attachment to blend the skid steer excavator debate. I like it, nice job.

U302 and M670 were the last true MM tractors designed 100% by MM. Upgrades to make the Jetstar 3 as well. There was a ton of innovations with these, and in my opinion put the JD 10 series to shame. IH was really the only one that had comparable. The steering was hydrostatic. Best design on the market for the next couple decades. Tele-flo was a good design. Adjustable rate. The MM of this era made fantastic loader tractors because of the speed they could cycle a loader. The seat design they show at 23:00 is legit! Super easy to adjust, one of few where the weight setting actually worked. The gauges started out old school but quickly were changed to what I would describe as "indiglow" (remember the timex watches in the 90's?) and were leagues beyond the competition in visibility at night. Other little things, like how the lift arms for 3pt had those swivel ends with a pin to make hook up super easy, offering 540/1000 pto that was easy to switch, even the nice wide flat fenders were a boon when you had someone riding back from the field(or out to the field) Ampli-torque is a nice system for it's era, and reduced strain on things by allowing a slow start. Even road travel, you could pull down the lever to move out and once straightened out push it up to go. It's really too bad what White ended up doing to this company. The financial cuts started before these tractors had even gotten to market. It's why the innovations basically stopped and they rehashed the same thing for the next ten years. All so White could try to keep it's heavy trucks going, which ultimately failed anyway. Such a shame.

Minneapolis Moline has style, efficiency and power. This is where Meritocracy yielded from quality to greed. And truth became what we could get others to believe.

I always thought that John Deere should took their old reliable 2 cylinder engines and built it into 4 or 6 cylinders with the same bore and stroke and low rpm that the two cylinders hadhad they matched and combined the engine out of the 730 engine they could have had a 130 hp na or 140 hp w/Turbo charger

I can attest to the M670s having long life engines. We have a 65 diesel that we still use that we think has 30,000 hours on it with the same engine that has never had a complete rebuild, at least that I know of. It's still running strong, starts up every time with a bit of starting fluid in the mornings and only blows a little bit of smoke.

Six bottoms? There’s no way. All the manufacturers seemed to do that back in the day. Same tractors that were rated for 7-8 bottoms pull 5-6. Five plow tractors usually did better with 4.

You know this how. My farmall 560 pulled 5 16's all day in Maryland. My MM 1350 pulled 7 16's all day same fields.

Mike Deusa I know this because I worked for CaseIH for years, and now I have my own shop. I’ve worked on everything. I’ve seen the results of what happens when manufacturers overrated their equipment. I agree it depends on the soil, but I’ve seen waaaayyyyy too many machines that were rated for 6 plows have reduced life compared to when they stuck with 5.

Minneapolis Moline horribly over rated there tractors. During MM expo at rollag 2016 someone tried pulling 8 bottoms in the plowing area with a Vista, it failed. Then they tried a 6 bottom failed.
@nellsonstout7001

I wouldn’t doubt it, but if the same area is plowed repeatedly, that could make it harder
@randyrobinson8751

Obivously you're not from around here. I always laugh when some dummy thinks they can take a plow one or two sizes to big thru hard clay at rollag in clay Co. Minnesota. 1 bottom plow behind an R moline is all that tractor will pull. We plow&rip it every year. It will take a 500 CASE IH quad track to it's knees

@alankuhlman8550

Every manufacturer over rated their tractors. There are places where a Vista will pull 7 or 8 bottoms. Large combines 4WDs and large grain carts pack the ground much more than years ago did with smaller equipment.
