You should have made a treaded wooden dowel and glued that in. Then you thread the ferrule on. With the weight of the ferrule being heavier than the wood, you just created additional deflection.
@muddymo7641
@muddymo7641 7 месяцев назад
Sorry but I own several custom cues. A couple by cuemakers that are in the international cuemakers hall of fame. None of the better cues have ferrets screwed in. Low end cheap cues ,yes
@Gustav555
@Gustav555 7 месяцев назад
@muddymo7641 yes, that was the OLD way of doing things, when technology was not as far along. I'm not saying the way it was done is bad or wrong, but there are certainly better ways of doing it today. The old pressed on fiber ferrules worked well way back then, until they shrank and created a gap between the ferrules bottom and tenon base. Today we have thermoplastics and phenolic that does not shrink nor crack under normal conditions. Technology and methodology improves over time. Most also was reduced deflection, not more.

I am curious, what is that sliding tool called, that you have attached, with the cutter, for trimming the wood, ferrule and tip, for that lathe, and can that type of tool be attached to a Mini Lathe? Also curious what RPM you have the lathe running at? I really liked the video, and would like to give this a try for myself, if I can get the right parts that I would need. Thanks.

There's visible runout on the shaft when turning down the new ferrule. Clever trick with the blade to blend the interface between shaft and ferrule. The blade follows the shaft making that end of the ferrule match with the shaft profile. Nice!!! Bummer about the nick/abrasion in the clear part at the end. Flaw in the tip?

How do you know you haven’t over heated the glue? I had one done like this, and the tip popped off while shooting. You could see there was glue issue. This was with a Predator and the pad popped off with tip.
@BilliardCueMasters
@BilliardCueMasters Год назад
You must first use the right glue. if you use the right glue your problem will be solved . here i use okong c -501 glue . You will need to wait 5 minutes or you can follow my video tutorial : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-sv7xRN4GHwY.html
@RichardsWorld
@RichardsWorld 9 месяцев назад
You would have to get really really hot to damaged the glue. You would probably destroy the ferrule first. Proper preparation of the contact surfaces is very important.

@@BilliardCueMasterscurrently use the revo with a predator soft and looking for something a touch fimer, didn't like tiger sniper but no tip stiffness ratings for h.o.w tips product. Is the titan soft a little harder or softer then the predator victory soft? If you don't know I apologize, just wanted to ask.
