I'm surprised more youtube vids don't focus on this classic bass line. Gerald Johnson rules! His bassline for "The Joker" is more famous, but this made him legendary among bass players. I have a 22 fret bass to reach those high notes in the solo. Are you suggesting that you have a transcription for this? Is it available?

I’m not sure what to think of this song or Sabrina carpenter but I appreciate your variety and ear for finding good in stuff. Would have been funny if you played a completely different bass line in the style of Chris Squire or someone like that.

Live Ray would do the bass but this tune was actually played on an electric bass by session player Doug Lubahn! He appears a lot on strange days and waiting for the sun. Really great player. You can hear the strings if you listen hard. I remember being surprised when I found that out. More importantly; great work here!

I always love your Gary Strater pieces! BTW, have you ever used any AI instrument splitters, like RipX? The RipX trial si free, and the version I use is only $99. You could remove, for example, Gary's bass part, listen/study it in detail without the other instruments masking it, but then you can play along with Gary's bass actually removed from the mix. So with a DAW you can "replace" Gary and have a more pristine recording as though you are the Starcastle bassist! I'm having fun with this new RipX toy. -- Blair
