Do these work on metal boxes? ETA: I got what I thought was a good answer from "Kirk" in an answer to my question on Amazon. These work by digging into the plastic to keep the clip from pulling out. They would probably slip on a metal box. FWIW, most of the comments were positive on Amazon about it but they were based on using it on plastic boxes.

"Bell's Outlet" 🤣 Called it, a mean old money southern woman. As I was trying to help her at a local Home Improvement store here in Florida... So much for "Southern Bells" I'm a veteran and I wasn't sardonic or sarcastic about it. I was profesional all the way as usual, going the extra mile. But she was sent by her boyfriend with a list...And his descriptions weren't clear at all... Their exchanges over speakerphon?...Demanding demeaning towards her... I knew it was coming, ignored a couple of negative comments and remarks... But then he questioned my knowledge and called me stupid on top of suggesting getting to the competition for the list... When I defended myself? She said behind me: "-Your intelligence means shit!! what you have done is shit!! That doesn't mean anything you can't find nothing!!" That after more than half the list was completed... And I did just that... Told them they were rude and abusive, and fowl mouthed... And to please got to "home depot" I turned around and left her blank... She called for help again and complaining at customer service with all kinds of lies ...I was called over the radio!! And I embarrassed her in front of half a dozen customers through the Speakerphone: -"Is that the woman with a list with the boyfriend on speakerphone? Then NO! She said that my intelligence was shit and what I have done as power grid technician with the military is shit and means nothing... They have been rude fowl mouthed and abusive so NO I won't help them... Let them go to Home Depot for "help" like the boyfriend suggested" Fortunately that is less than the 1% of my customers and hapened after almost a year here. Leadership and coworkers are great. Yes we are exposed...But no one should step over the dignity of others treating them as mere servants...Like shit. I saw her again and I apologized...But in her own style: She said: -"I know people with ptsd...You shouldn't be working with the public..." -"Yes, you said you were married to a psychologist..." She said that very proudly...After I confronted her again...And picked her brains out without she even realizing it... One has to wonder why he divorced her?... The pill bottles in her purse tells the story... Beware, remain cool calm and collected.

just wondering if anyone could help me out. I can't find the exact text that spells out the voltage and power limitations for class 2 and 3 circuits. I was under the assumption it was 150v for class 2 and 300 for class 3. could anyone shed some light on this for me. “That's because it's none of your business. :lol: It's not up to use to determine whether a circuit is CL2 or CL3 or even Class 1. The class will be indicated on the power source as determined by the manufacturer using some mysterious testing method. If the information is not indicated we are to assume it's Class 1. Those 150 and 300V voltage ratings relates to CL2 and CL3 listed cables respectively and they are only the voltage rating of the cable, nothing to do with what the actual voltages of CL2 and CL3 circuits may be. However we are not supposed to know that either. Notice it's not printed on the jacket, spool or box? You can find the voltage rating if you look up the specs for a specific cable but that is for use only if you are using it for a non NEC application.”-Hal (www.datapro.net/techinfo/cable_ratings.html) So Hal, I ran all of the 0-10V wiring in 14-2 romex because it was cheaper than buying 600v rated 18-2 sheathed cable. I kept the 0-10 separate everywhere but it will terminate in the switch and fixture with the 120v circuit. Do you think this is code compliant? There seems to be a lot of confusion on this topic. The industry hasn't caught up to these types of lights in a romex installation. You just cant find wire for it. I found one person that had purple / gray 18-2 and like I said it was expensive. “You didn't need 600V rated wiring for the 0-10V. Could have used 18/2 thermostat wire. Tried to explain that to you several times! The 14/2 NM to me would look like DIY work. Sorry. Yeah, there's a lot of confusion. We have this question about once a month and nobody understands it yet! It isn't that difficult.” -Hal Southwire now makes luminaire cable in Romex. Both the MC and the romex have 600 volt rated insulation on the dimming conductors. I thought that was because the dimmer switches have line and lv tails on them and how can you get 1/4 inch separation? My understanding is you have to keep the lv out of the box. You can run bell wire to a power pack, like a doorbell transformer, line inside lv outside. At least that is my understanding. If the cable that is listed for 0-10 volt dimming has all 600 volt conductors there must be a reason, no? “14 gauge Romex is fine but it's overkill and you don't need the egc. You should be able to get 16 or 18 gauge control cable, most likely in the standard purple and grey at your supply house. There is no restriction on using NM or any other Chapter 3 wiring method for a Class 2 or 3 circuit. You could use 5kV cable if you wanted too....of course that might be a bit costly. your 0-10V control cable doesn't have to be listed for 120 or 240V. The fixtures and switches will provide the necessary separation between the CL2 wiring and the power. The only problem comes in when you want to run the control wiring with the power in the same cable or raceway. Art 411 only relates to low voltage lighting systems operating at 30 volts or less. The language seems to indicate that CL2 conductors need to be run as a Chapter 3 wiring method if you don't use a CL2 cable. What they are actually saying is that for systems larger than CL2, Chapter 3 wiring methods are required.” “If the fixture or dimmer switch don't have separate compartments what are you supposed to do? Before luminary cable what did you do? You run your CL2 into the boxes and do the best you can to maintain separation. Sounds to me like it's per manufacturer's instructions. I've never heard of anybody using NM for the dimming circuit. The concern is that there could be a cross between the line and low voltage conductors. This holds true for any mixed installation, not just dimmable lighting. That's why the reclassification requirements are technically so hard to meet, which is what you are doing when you combine line and LV in a box, cable or raceway. Thing is that it's becoming a requirement more and more today. Looks like the wire manufacturers have stepped up and done their part, but manufacturers of dimmable fixtures and dimmers are not addressing it. How do these fixtures and dimmers get listed? One can only assume that if they are listed it's permissible to have the line and LV in the same junction box as provided by the manufacturer. As for your doorbell example, that's a different situation. With 0-10V dimming, the CL2 is functionally associated with the operation of the fixture so bringing it into the junction boxed is allowed. Better manufacturers will provide separation. I actually remember a little while back that somebody posted (see orange text for this product and other separation methods) type splice that connected the power and the low voltage conductors in the junction boxes while providing separation.” -Hal forums.mikeholt.com/threads/dimming-wiring.135487/page-2

I bought this product and had to do the same steps as far as removing the previous, non-fan rated, bracket and box and replacing with this. One suggestion for the product is to have different feet size options. The studs between floors in my house are weird and have small studs on top and bottom, with OSB between. They’re not flush like the 2x4 they demo on, so getting the teeth to dig in was difficult because of the feet. I had to get creative to get it to work, but it still worked out. Near perfect product and by far the best for this type of application.

Now stick it back through the opening on the I joists. Strong as hell and only cost is a piece of scrap lumber and some adhesive.

@Comm0ut
@Comm0ut 10 месяцев назад
I have three of various styles and they do include a round panel with "knockout" rings that fits a 6-50R. I would NOT use these for that but instead use a STEEL outdoor box with included outlet, like those used for RV power which is what I do for my welder outlets. The lid mount tabs are delicate as they should be to protect the box, but steel is a much more rugged choice. For a couple of 120V receptacles they're OK. BTW next time if you wire a 14-50R you can have both voltages on a single receptacle. The first thing I should have done when placing my first welding outlet forty years ago was study RV panels, cords and other hardware. I strongly suggest others do likewise to get the most out of a limited number of receptacles. BTW the newer design plugs with three finger loops on the back are VASTLY nicer to use for heavy cable like the SOOW I use for my welder extension cords.

Your new production is total garbage. The corners holes in your surface plates do not align with the ears in your boxes. The corners must be drilled out for the screw holes to line up. The is the case with all the current 4x4 drawn boxes. The square boxes have the ears and the threaded holes in them placed slightly more inward and therefore line up perfectly with the usual amount of play. This is what you get when you start cutting corners and moving production to nexico and china (neither worthy of proper case). These products are used exclusively in the USA and Canada. Why make them anywhere else and then have to ship then back here? These are simple one-piece stamped metal products. Raise the prices if you have to but don't cut quality to the point the product is useless. Whoever is in charge of supervision of this production is a total moron. I am glad am moving on from the trade I have loved and performed as perfectly as humanly possible basically my entire life.
