Hi Elly, when giving calculations, can you give the amount in ounces, grams, pounds, or cups? Not everyone can figure out what percentage you are talking about.
Hello everyone! I m a bit new to all this but it is so interessting to watch. May I ask why does the soap needs to cure for 4 to 6 weeks? Thank you so much for answering.
Great tutorial. I make soap for several years now and i usually use a very similar recipe (caustic soda, water, olive oil and coconut fat) and it works awesome. Just one hint, you should add citric acid (and more caustic soda, use a soap calculator) to prevent soap glue (not sure this is propperly translated) if you live in an area with very chalky water like south germany
Huwow thank you for suggesting an alternative. Pure Olive oil is really expensive here as well...much of olive oil sold are blended with other oils too.
Thanks! Yes these are green onions. I cut them all the time, haven't bought or grown new plants for years! I just dig them up and transplant them in a new spot when they start to look a bit sad.
I love your calm demeanor, your simple approach to soap making, and I had no idea you have a channel for sourdough making too! God bless your book writing endeavor. What an exciting moment in your life!
Thank you! Yes it's hard having two channels at times. Actually this (my first and biggest) channel, started with a popular video about sourdough! Then the soap making took over. Thanks for your good wishes.
Oh Elly, that’s wonderful news, pursuing what makes you happy is definitely a great option! And a book!! How exciting 😃🤩😁. All the very best with your meaningful pursuits. No pressure, but please keep us updated on how it’s all going, and would love it if you had a “wait list” for your book as you get closer to publishing. 👏😘🦋
I look forward to your book. I enjoy your teaching style and even though I have been making soap for many years, your videos helped me understand some scientific aspects of the process much clearer than I understood them before. As for pressure….Don’t be! I don’t understand people expecting a video from a creator on a schedule. It’s your life. Just breathe!
I feel the EXACT same way. I’m a soap maker and photographer and it’s always a balancing act. Along with raising 3 little ones! I can’t wait to buy your book. I have made so many of your recipes and learned so much from you!! 🧡🧡🧡
I like the idea of making soap that was a great demonstration, but only question is? The lye it seems very concerning because you have to wear gloves cover your eyes to prevent burning. Why is it necessary to include the lie if it can burn I’m not very familiar with live, but it sounds pretty bad. Why do you use it?
I’ve been using Rice Bran Oil for years! - I love it! And have used it to make ‘Castile’ Soaps (in the style of) 💓 AndYes! I’ve long since found that the lather is better. It has similar qualities to Olive albeit an higher Vit E quotient 😊 Keep EVOO for dietary consumption 😊😊
Hello. I have truly been posturing when it come to making products, especially soap. This, hands down, has been the most inspiring and clearly informative video I have seen to help motivate me…And I thank you!…♥️
I've watched so many soaping videos over the past 5 years and I have to tell you that I enjoyed yours the most. I'll miss watching new videos, but I know exactly where you're coming from. All the best to you Elly, and I'll look forward to your book. From British Columbia, Canada.
Brilliant. I watched so many soap making channels and have been interested in having a go. It was you who actually inspired me to do it. You are a brilliant teacher. Wishing you every success. Thank you so much. I will definitely buy your book. ❤

I'm sure we'd all rather have you here less as long as you're happy! I owe so much of my soap making skill to you and can't wait for your book just to support you!
