Born in Pescara in 1984, my journey into the world of fishing began at the age of six, thanks to my father’s guidance. Over the years, I explored various forms of fishing until I discovered the captivating art of Fly Fishing.
Little did I know that this discovery would shape my life in profound ways. I quickly developed a deep passion for the intricate craft of fly-tying, immersing myself in the culture by attending numerous fairs, connecting with fellow enthusiasts, and tirelessly perfecting my fly-tying skills. Today, I am proud to be a co-owner of 54 Dean Street a prominent Fly-Fishing shop located in Italy
Among the wide range of flies, I create, my heart truly lies in the realm of classic designs, particularly the esteemed Catskill-style flies.
I've seen this video of Umberto tying this fly many times since it first came out. It's now May 2024 and I'm watching it again. Never get tired of watching Umberto's fly tying skills !
I enjoyed watching you tie Mike’s fly. He is a good friend of mine, mainly by meeting at shows. I have used that pattern out here in Oregon both for trout or the Rogue River, big Redband rainbows, Browns, and tigers on Diamond lake during summer long Callibaetis Hatches. Although I have been tying ( to damn many years) I love seeing a different style of tying techniques
Ciao Riccardo, la maggior parte di queste mosche sono mosche classiche americane, le trovi sui libri su molti libri, ed ovviamente imitano gli insetti di qui posti, ma comunque sono adattabili anche ai nostri.
Super looking dry there mate. Very good to see you back and tying again. Thanks for sharing and have a great day. Best Regards from West Virginia, Ken 🎣🐜
Absolute waste of money, a lot of tippet spools wont fit in at the back, front two magnets at the top fall out which hold the box closed. When its warm the foam warps in the corners at the top of box. the plastic at the front and back is not strong enough and the whole box moves, the small magnet in the box to hold flies is not strong enough and flies fall through out into the bottom of the box. stronger magnets needed at the corners to keep the whole box from moving. Overall very expensive product, not well thought out just looks cheap and feels cheap, Normally C&F products are top class and i use a lot of their stuff, however this box is a massive fail in my view.
Howdy came across your video and subscribe to your channel I like your work. Going to attempt the royal wolf. Should work on my Pennsylvania streams.I also like catskill flies.. do you tie any nymphs? Nice to meet ya peace✌️
Finally you are back. Nice to see you and hear. Hope things are going well for you and your family. Welcome back my friend. Hope to see some classic flies. Best Regards from West Virginia, Ken
Buona idea, Umberto! Si potrebbe anche usare del velcro per fissare la FlyPatch così da renderla intercambiabile con lo stessa PatchMagnetica o altri accessori.
Love watching your work my friend! I follow a lot of channels, and as an American, primarily tying Catskill flies myself, nobody and I mean nobody does it as well as you my friend. I was influenced enough by you over the last three years enough to go out and get a matching vise with all of the available attachments and accessories. Anyway, keep doing what you do, keep tying beautiful classic patterns, and keep demonstrating the use and beauty of natural materials. By far one of the best!
Thank you so much Mike, this is so motivational for me. I am always very busy, but i really want to keep going with my channel! I love Catskill Flies and i want to create a video database for all of them!! Thank you, keep following!
@@UmbertoOregliniDBTR thanks for taking the time to reply my friend, that also means a lot to me, so the feeling is mutual. Keep doing what you do, it’s worth it. You are very talented and very artistic and precise when you tie and that teaches others to do the same. This art and hobby honestly saved my life after I was wounded in combat while serving in the United States Army, so if it can do that for me, it can be the same for someone else. You and your work motivate, inspire, and demonstrate a skill that is hard to read about in a book and truly understand, and Catskill patterns are worthy of being documented and demonstrated for all to see and enjoy. By far you are one of the best I’ve seen, including here in the US, and I just wanted to make sure I took the time to let you know that.
Hi just came across your channel and flies they look brilliant, I’m pretty new to fly tying and love dry flies, I tie size 14 to 18 only, still trying to figure out what hackle is best, is a cock cape or saddle better and would u recommend anywhere to buy them and what colour is popular ? I’m uk . Thanks
Hi David, rooster capes have a full range of hackle dimensions, instead saddles are more limited to two/three hackles size. So my suggestion is to buy capes so you can tie flies of every size. I have a fly fishing shop in Italy, we ship worldwide, take a look of what i have in stock! www.54deanstreet.com Have a nice day, Umberto.
