Nobody has frozen their own plums as much as yourself the last few years. 😂 Keep away from the fly rod section as you only just suit having that wee tub attached to your arse. 😅
feel the pain mate on the imports front, we get pish all in n.ire because of brexit half the mainland companies wont ship tackle here either, we used to go out on my lough with a mini flowtilla of wee punts and 2.5 hp on em mackie bashin then have a fry up on 1 of the islands and try for the seatrout, great work on the sickleblade again, ther class wee baits 👍👍🎣
I could understand if the rod was coming from across your way, but this is Wales, I've had rods from further afield for a tenner postage. Boy just wouldn't budge from FedEx 😏 I'll get this SG rod tried out in the next few days (heading out to Rousay)
@@povfishingorkney i dunno mate some sellers just cant be arsed i dunno how the operate at profit! id say that will handle pretty sweet mate them SG were made with the spin fisher in mind 🎣🎣
Interestingly, that Diawa and this SG are both "sea" rods. SG predator stuff gets shorter as it gets lighter. As you say quite often, they're missing out on a big chunk of the market by not bothering with Brownies? I'll try anything though, no be stuck😏🤣
This fish deserves to have it's place in that loch. It is clearly a venue that produces some absolute beasts probably much bigger than those you've caught and lost here. Anything that has survived to this stage has fought for its own survival and has helped replenish stocks in a difficult water devoid of a spawning burn, a proper achievement of nature. I'm sure it'll spend it's summer months munching down on a small char or trout 2-3 times a week if that. The thing about this loch is that even with it's local community it has never been a "mecca" of trout fishing and has never faced real fishing pressure and I'm sure it never will. I've personally never seen more than a single dog walker here. Fish like this are safe here as it is only the truly dedicated people who will come across them and they aren't going to fall to every tactic. That fish could stand to be someone else's PB and who knows what size it might end up before the end of it's lifetime but only because you returned what some people might have made into a cast to hang on their trophy wall. The prize was watching it swimming out of sight. Well done again jake and keep on with the commentary vids which are much easier on the ears. 😅🎣
how many eggs will he fertilize during the next spawn? people are idiots and think they can do it because they seen a video online, where are they all when the force 8 westers are screamin in your face? at home greasen their butt rings thats where, great seein that monster again mate 👍👍🎣
I think some people forget how an ecosystem like that works and think that ‘humans’ should be the only ‘predator’ in the cycle. My lad watched it this morning, very impressed with that brown trout and its teeth 😆👍 all the best.
You are absolutely right to return it. I've been fly fishing 40 years in the Highlands. My only criticism is not about doing this and putting it back but publicising the names of lochs. Just go and fish and take the memories home, don't publicise it.
We don't have many up here, process of elimination and a keen eye would soon identify it. The point of the channel is to keep me motivated through massive medical problems and promote catch and release in Orkney, I don't really bother who catches them to be honest.
Absolutely belter mate , I’ve fished there myself a couple of times with the fly but you’re limited with the back cast. I take it , it is Sean Brought you speak about , I know him well . I worked on the island for 16years but I left 3 years ago .. Nice one , I never thought I’d see that quarry again .. a belting trout … cheers Stevie
Forget what the locals are saying... I really don't understand that chaps logic.. Aye.. Kill the big fish and leave the smaller ones??... WTF is he on aboot... Where the fuck do you think those 3/4 lb fish are coming from? 😂😂.. That's just pure jealousy mate... Keep on lure fishing those lochs.. Its sure as shit not illegal over there
Brilliant fish brilliant video ,and regards the fella telling u to kill it don't be getting involved he haw to do with him definitely a fish of a lifetime I'll hopefully get one next year
Hope yer nae gonnae bore me with this next month? It's an absolute beauty Damien and no one is going to blame you for showing it off. Loving the commentary vids. Keep pumping them oot, you'll be famous(er) soon enough.
Love it, I have done since the first time I tried it, it's a brilliant way to spend a day fishing. Gets you into areas that no one else can get to, and it's amazing how close to the tube that fish will take. It's hard work on a big loch, I think some struggle with the fitness and leg strength required, and controlling the tube takes a bit of practice. A drift sock (drogue) helps immensely, but maybe not on the likes of Swannay with it's many skerries. The best way to fish that I've found is to fish into the shore that the wind is blowing into, just very slowly paddling to maintain your position. I met Alex on Harray, we were both in the tubes, he had plenty fish that day!. Tight lines.
I also have a love hate relationship with my float tube, I have friends in Shetland that swear by them. I think I will keep persevering. Another great film
Not tried using a belly boat but there are places that would be too difficult to launch the kayak but the tube maybe easier to transport to the remote lochs. PiscatorUK is getting good use out of his.
I see that yes, Alex does well in his, I find them very constrictive in terms of movement and keeping in touch with the lure. I've found a balance with an 8 foot pram dinghy and a 2.5hp mariner😂 (next video) Not quite boating but not quite float Tubing 🤔
I tell you what, I’m glad you got those belters on such a dark broody day with the weather closing in down the loch. All added to the atmosphere of the video 😆 nice char as well 👍
@@povfishingorkney exactly 😆. I remember once being out late season salmon fishing and the next day I bumped into a joiner that saw my van by the river and said he wouldn’t have even put his bloody dog out in that😆! Tbf, there’s not much that will stop me going when i get the chance. All the best 👍
ive not much words thatll do that fish justice mate, well done you are one of the most dedicated lure anglers on the platform and this fish is well warranted, well done amigo 👍👍🎣
High praise sir, and thanks a lot ☺️ Been chasing that lad for 20 years 😏 After taking to the lures these past couple of years, I reckon it won't be another 20 years before he's beaten 😉
Awesome footage! Such a well deserved catch. 👏 Enjoyed watching you look nervous then when you were taking it from the net you looked like a bairn opening an Atari at Christmas 99% sure it's an Atari. 😅
Well done Damien.Great session and nice to see some of trout are growing on strongly.Uncle having his treatment and we are all routing for him.Keep the videos coming.Tight lines.steve
Fantastic fish bud, next time. Met your wee mate Alex in the tube on Harray yesterday, good guy. Lost a huge fish on swannay today, gutted. Never even seen it, near ripped the rod from me.
He said he'd met a few guy's right enough. He did no too bad (I'll get a vid up soon) We're off to Hoy again on Monday for a few days. I feel your pain, I missed a belter the last time I was at Swannay, they're definitely still in there.😉
Seen you and Alex at the end of your session that night you spoke to my dad and Davie who we stay with up there he grew up fishing Swanny was gutted to realise it was yourself a was out fishing when u came across the 4 of us watched all your videos pal love them gutted a didn’t get to say hi to you maybe nxt year.
was drinking in Solid rock and Alestorm were drinking in the corner. Eventually plucked up courage to go ask them to record a wee message on my camera. Basically telling my viewers they were going to punch them right in the balls. They hammed it up and it would have been awesome content had I remembered to press the record button. Felt such a numpty. Awesome fish Damien.
thats mad mate gettin that fish year later, just shows the value of treating fish correctly and giving them a safe release, all cracker fish btw mate 🎣🎣👍
