Good racing guys!! Congratulations Rusty 🏁 Think it was Rick that crashed into the others in the pits. I would have given a 5second penalty for that. No excuses when it’s a double lane pit stop. lol but always fun watching your races. Thanks for sharing 🏁
Yeah I crashed into the pits. I'm now using a Tru-Speed controller and the lane change button has a longer stroke than my Ram-Jet's. So I started pushing the button sooner so not to miss the crossover, only I pressed it as I came pass the pit lane and went flying into the pits. About the double pit lane. I need a straight between the two pit switches to work properly, but I don't have enough room for that. So I moved the sensor on the second pit switch so that it changes the switch behind you for the next car to take the other lane. (But you have to hold your button down as you pass over it, or it won't change) I didn't have a way to chose the other pit lane when I went flying into the pits, it was set by the car in front of me. It's not ideal but it's the only way I could get the switch to operate being so close to the first switch. The senor in the car will not line up with the track senor (2nd pit switch) and it rarely works. Fortunately both cars in the pits got fuel and this didn't affect them at all. I guess I'll give myself a 10 second penalty next time. 🙂 Thanks.
@@rickrideoutthanks for clarifying. I know exactly what you mean about the cars not reading the sensor when having a double pit lane . And not having a pit lane extension in between. Was very frustrating to me. Had to make some adjustments. I added a 1/4 track in between the first and 2nd pit entry just to give the car that quick second it needs to straighten up so would read the sensor. Works like a charm. But on the pit lane side I had to cut the 1/4 piece in half to make it a single lane 1/4 track. That may be something you may beable to workout without having to extend your track out much further if needed. 🏁
It's hard to follow the pace car. Slow down to much and you'll stop on a dead spot, go to fast and run into the back of somebody. But we're working on way to fix it. 🙂
Hola, gusta sus carreras, quisiera saber, las dimensiones de la pista y si es posible la lista de partes. Me parece que se adapta bien al mi interés y espacio
even better is put some quarters folded into the cloth, about 4 on each side of the rail in a line, then the cloth gets pulled down a little without creating massive drag and it picks up more dust. this is an awesome solution either way!
Yep, I didn't mention adding weight in the video. If too much weight is added it will overheat the motor and I didn't what that to happen. So I stayed away from that suggestion. 🙂
Great video, that poor old standard carrera motor in there is trying to pull upwards of half a kilo when you factor in the weight of the truck, the three magnets and the friction from their pad, and as you say it only does the rails. This is a much better way of using it
Wow, what a fascinating race! Thank you for sharing this, as it shows many of the issues that might come up during a race, and how you were able to solve them.
That was some good ass racing guys. It’s always the best races to watch when watching green flag racing and not watching a crash every half lap 🤣🤣🤣 Thanks for the video 🏁
Man it’s looks really good (videos, cameras keep it up). Might have to make a special appearance coming down from Milwaukee area ). Are you on our slot car discord? If you’re not let me know and I’ll send you an invite.
I have a video on how I did it, but it requires some solder skill. Here's the link to the video. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Av_OwjUfdx4.html
I really appreciate seeing a full race like this, it helps me figure out how to run my own digital races at home. What solution are you using for guardrails?
This is absolutely ridiculous, grown men playing with toys. On a side note, I'm 52 and have a 12' x 8' Carrera set up with Carrera, Slot It, NSR, Revo and Sideways cars. I started about two months ago and have $4k-ins into it. PS, Don't tell my wife! LOL
This was my first test video. It was recorded by a hand held iPhone and only lasted a few minutes. See my order video's after this one that has complete races. Thanks.
Track layout and list: imgur.com/a/oeVDMnY On my latest videos I have a lot more information listed about the layout. You just need to click the "More" tab above. (on the newer videos.) Thanks
I absolutley love your layout! Best one I've seen so far. Can I ask what size table you have that on? Also, would you have an inventory list of the track pieces to duplicate it? I appreciate your help!
I bought those two toggle switches years ago from All Electronics ( a surplus electronics store which is out of business now). I've looked everywhere for the same style but there's no name or number on these. So as far as I can tell these are the only two in the world. 🙂 btw they do require a 3/4 inch hole so that is a bit of an issue. Sorry.
@@gregwinnan We also use SmartRace Connect to provide stop button for each drivers and disable the caution buttons around the layout. We're using iPads with SmartRace connect in this video. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Ahn7YEc7y7U.html
Hi Rick, I will be using penalties for our next race and was doing some testing by myself and could not figure out how to serve a penalty during a race. I think I remember Pat pulling into the pit to refuel and serve the penalty but could not figure it out. Any advice? Thank you kind sir!
The only penalties that were given out were for causing a caution more than 3 times. Pitting during the pace car or speeding through the pits, has to be manually done. On Smartrace there is a penalty button (tab), you have to hit the button, select which driver and then select the penalty time amount and then hit confirm. That's why in the video I mentioned needing a secretary. I didn't have time to give out manual penalties. I've talked to Marc at SmartRace about making this an optional penalty for both speeding through the pits and pitting while the pace car is out and maybe someday it will be added to the app and give these out automatically. 🙂
@@rickrideout Hi Rick, thank you AGAIN! I saw your name with others who have been instrumental in the advancement of SmartRace... very cool! I have been to the Penalties tab and saw all that you mention but I thought maybe if I held the lane change button for fueling that perhaps as soon as the tank was full the 5 second penalty would start counting down... but nope. So as far as you know, there really is no way for a racer to serve his/her penalty in the pit lane like I thought? Thanks Rick!!!! Oh, btw, I bought one of the Carney Plastics cases that can store 24 of my Carrera Digital 1:32 cars beautifully, so thanks for that recommendation. It's very classy looking.
@@user-jx3jp3gb4x Yeah, I was one of the beta testers for the Smartrace fuel simulator. If you're using Smartrace (with the fuel simulator) and have a penalty you can't get fuel until the penalty has been served in the pits. The button is not needed to refuel with Smartrace. Make sure the fuel switch on the CU is set to off. Glad to hear you got the display case they are nice. Thanks. 🙂
@@rickrideout thanks Rick!!!! I will experiment with Fuel Simulation... So that's how your cars automatically start fueling as soon as the car passes the fuel sensor?
My head hurts trying to keep up with SmartRace and who gets their lap back and well, I remember when I was seven and had a slot car track with just two cars, and laps were not counted, nobody got a lap back and nobody got penalized for going through the pits etc. I have decided that for my five race dude friends, that we will race with SmartRace and do our best to keep things straight. I have just completed installing lane gates for minimizing collisions, but I have also decided that we also need to just run our cars and race each other and not worry about laps, kind of like when I was a kid. I feel your pain Rick :) my last remaining thing to purchase is a lane check. As always, thank you very much Rick for recording, editing and posting these races!!
Dan, Nothing wrong with doing it the way you want to do it. I'm sure my videos will help other decide if this is the way they want to do it or not. I know my group will want to try some other ways of doing it also. But I'd like to get more of the details worked out on using the Pace car to where it runs like a well oil machine before we move on. So it's all good, and thank you. 🙂
@@rickrideout I agree, wholeheartedly. After watching lots of videos on RU-vid, including yours has caused me to want to make racing these cars a lot of fun and I have learned alot from your videos, so I am always happy when I see another video that has just been uploaded by you :-) I really like your idea of the staging area for all the cars to collect before the pace car is sent out. That’s how I will be running mine :-) thanks Rick again.
