I have a 2016 WRX that just has a Invidia catback. Id love to get mine like this but im scared its gonna cost 7k+ and then just blow up. So much money to get an extra 170+whp makes me almost want to go to another platform mainly because they're known to just blow up.
Yah man I’m on the same page right now. Looking into different platforms cause this one is unreliable. I love the car now but… took over 20k to get here with a new engine and all. Mine blew up at 50k miles 🫣
It just depends on the previous owner tbh. Was the car cared for or was it someone who modified it and likely beat the shit out of it. My engine blew up at 50k miles (I bought at low 40s) my mech said it was purely due to the negligence of the previous owner. So just make sure it looks clean and owner isn’t a idiot lol
@@Subawuu4090 I have a fa wrx and I just put some Rockford door speakers but want to get the head unit you have. Had to ask bc I helped my friend change his in his crosstrek and it was infuriating😂 had to ask lol
the car sounds nice and all but not sure how long it will last with being that turned up. also once u get into the gear u want take ur hand off the shift knob so ur not grinding anything by holding it with ur hand
I would assume you're running stock turbo on this. I would recommend turning down boost to like 21psi MAX for target boost. I don't know your mod list but I will say that you for sure need an EBCS if you don't have one. Sometimes you can't help overboost but going to 24psi is going to blow your stock turbo in the long run. Also, with such consistent boost on this turbo you're going to wear out your wastegate spring and then it will release boost pre-maturely. I know from experience..
ive told many people to avoid using a air intake on their daily use subaru. it's made for racing purposes where the engine sees 100% load and frequent rebuilds. on daily engine it reduces it's life span due to making the engine run lean (too much air less fuel)
@@06wrxRAR i understand your point, I do agree not to just throw on an intake and call it a day. I know it could take more air in than required on stock tune but that's why I went with a protune, to find achieve that balance and not run lean.
@@ttjosvkea protune helps..but still wont guarantee longevity of the engine as it will swallow more physical mass of air and cause the engine to run hotter. a lighter can stay lit when there is oxygen in the air. same with engine. the fire, heat from the combustion activity will cause oxygen to expand and create heat. this is why piston rings get cracked, rod bearings get dry, head surface gets warped.
I read that as well. After I built the new engine it’s on now. My mech said it’s bulletproof and nothing will break it so they were not worried about it. I’ve also had a buddy have engine issues with the bpv and have to replace his engine completely. Every mod is just a gamble on these man, super delicate. This is my favorite mod and makes driving the car every day super fun. I’d recommend but I’d consult with your tuner
bro has got the death grip on that shifter, it takes 0.2 seconds to change gears dont need your hand on it the whole time. not hating just making an observation
Your car is really cool and beautiful. Can you tell me what exhaust modifications and blow-off valve you have? I have a 2016 WRX and I want a sound like that. Greetings.
@@noelrymbai9757 whether it’s a skill issue or not I haven’t had the best luck. It’s not the most reliable platform to begin with. I would say just get the proper mech and tuner involved and you should be in good shape.
