Richie's version is way better faster tempo and Bon Jovi sings back vocals and if you look at credits for the song Richie, Jon , Diana Warren and Desmond Childs wrote the song.
This was written between Slippery and New Jersey - they recorded a full band demo and this is what you're hearing. After it didn't end up on New Jersey, Richie recorded it for Stranger in this Town. The full Bon Jovi version was released officially in 2014 with the New Jersey anniversary double album
This version is better because Jon not only sings the melody but also interprets the song (he adds a character to the interpretation). That's why he was a great singer on his prime years. Richie's version is more soul oriented, like most of his songs.
It's out there since '89. Bootlegs, tenthhousand times here , on the jersey birthday edition m.ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-NW8hlx4ucmU.html
Has nothing to do with ego. Considering he took all the Sambora songs and put his name on them. Because he could. He had the contract and not only Alec told a thousand times: "Richie came up every record with a fistful of great songs. Not only Prayer, Wanted or Bad Medicine. They were finished. Jon changed two words and put his name on it. Then Richie took Jons songs - I know how he writes, man - he tells stories and the songstructure is mainly the same - and made them good, sometimes great". Jon even gave Max Martin a high percentage to not be mentioned. though the songs was completely finished. Changed the Frankie line and Richie did the talk box. But still tells the song was finished & both didn't write. Then listen to what about now. First Jonny Album with almost cero Sambora input I tried once. Pictures of you I'm with you I' feel like Picasso and your my masterpiece in this room at the end of the world where even roses want to die... It's impossible. There is no street singer with an acoustic guitar worldwide who will ever sing one of those songs. Knowing they would starve.
At least Jon realised he butchered the song and killed all the groove. m.ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Wz64-zkFRCU.html&pp=ygUgUm9zaWUgbGl2ZSByaWNoaWUgc2FtYm9yYSBzeWRuZXk%3D
When I first discovered Bon Jovi I was 11 and it blowed my mind, I went crazy and totally obsessed with Bon Jovi, that was then.... now I'm 47 years old...and I still love them...this is now!!!
👍Hats off to him, despite the issues : 1) with his vocals , 2) within the band .To still be willing to craft his art piece for us fans , and still trying to create employment for those touring with him and the band .❤
