Thanks for posting. This doesnt sound like an Agatha Christie-authored piece but it is pretty well-done. A little more like the style of Boston Blackie or Dashiell Hammett or maybe Rex Stout. Which is just fine. The Poirot role is well-written, true to his character in an American way, and very well-acted
Sorry for the late reply, but it would seem as if this is a "re-structured" Agatha Christie novel meant to cater (or pander) to a US-based audience. Thank you for taking time to comment. :)
Haha Brilliant. I am especially minded, The Companies that brought these Radio Programmes, are still extant In this case, Mutual. The time before television!! 🇮🇪☘️🎉🎊😜
Holy moly! Before your comment, we all thought that the car was just the AI having a sudden spaz attack. It does look like a Stout Scarab! 🙌🎉🍾Thank you! Good eye.
Only five minutes in and I'm already absolutely in love with the humorous "Americanisation" of the story! Thank you also for the introduction by Agatha Christie herself--a true gem as she refers to her character as her friend.
This batch of old time radio recordings was a rare find. Harold Huber's take on the character was truly golden. We're glad you liked it. 😉🙏Please check out the other "Americanisation" episodes in Hercule Poirot US Adventures playlist.
Yes. Imagine playing Inspector Japp for three different Poirots: John Moffat, David Suchet and the great Peter Ustinov himself. Philip truly owned Japp. 🙌🙏🙇♂️
What a find! Didn't realize such a show existed. I can see why Poirot is in N.Y. instead of London but I wonder if the program ever took off in America and how long it lasted.
So far, our searches (for now at least) yielded 9 radio show recordings of Hercule Poirot US Adventures, all of which were broadcast in 1945. All 9 recordings are available in our playlist. While John Moffat is an established voice for Hercule, actor Harold Huber gave his Poirot character a completely different twist. Some in the Spatial Fidelity team even think that he portrayed the character better. 😀Thank you for taking time to share your thoughts.🙏
Thank you for your feedback. Yes kind of weird with the Belgian running around the US. Rare too, I might add. You might be glad to know that our next uploads will feature hour-length recordings. Don't want to spoil it for our community with more details. 😁
We believe it's a privilege to still be able to still listen and enjoy classic radio shows from the 1940s🙏. Yes, all of these Hercule Poirot recordings with Harold Huber were from 1945.
Please please will you upload the children's series THE WIND IN THE WILLOWS? THIS is a classic child's collection, we are educating 📗 children to enjoy the classics, and pursue great literature. 🫶 M. IL
I remember watching the stories on CKLW--Canadian TV which we could pick-up in Michigan. The show was so sweet, showing the animals in their natural habitat while the narrator read the story. It kept me from crying when my big sister had to leave for school--@1957-58?? I wonder if the TV show could be located somewhere. I believe it was filmed in England.
Thank you for your feedback🙏. We'll be uploading a version without the rain sounds. In the meantime, please enjoy our more recent videos without the rain sounds. 😊
Our team is kind of split when it comes to Poirot's headwear. The older guys are partial to bowler hats while the younger gens are dependent on their grandparents' paperback collection illustrations, hence imagine the Belgian sleuth in a fedora.
Thank you for your feedback. 🙏😊 We take your comments to heart, which is why we have done away with the rain sounds with our recent uploads. Please enjoy!
It's because it's for an American audience. Like everything they think they wont understand what a bowler hat is. As for the Ustinov Panama hat that was because the story was set in a hot country and it was the norm for English men to wear them when on holiday.
Thank you for the input. 🙏😊Peter Ustinov surely added a new dimension to the character of Hercule Poirot. He truly owned the role of a small Belgian crime genius even though he hovered around 6 feet tall.
Thank you for your feedback. 😉 Our team chose to be more forgiving of this original recording because of the rudimentary (by today's standards) audio equipment that the techs had back in 1945. We'd like to point you towards remastered, high-fidelity version of this recording, but we don't know of any. Again, we appreciate that you took time out to share your thoughts. 🙏😊
It's not awful. It's old radio. Don't listen if you don't like it. I'm enjoying it for what it is - a glimpse (well, figuratively) into the past, and a fine piece of work.
@@peterbianchi6219 Peter- people are allowed an opinion- that is until the Thought Police shut us down. When our opinions are supressed- 1984 has arrived- if it hasn't already. Keep safe.
I enjoyed these readers’ voices very much! I subscribed & hope to find more soon… It’s sad what passes on audiobooks for good delivery when there’s no character behind the voice at all
We can completely relate to what you've experienced. There was a Poirot novel audiobook with our dear sleuth with a British accent, which kind of like a buzzkill as per our lowly tastes. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. More of Poirot in a few days. 😄🎉🙌
Thank you for this. I'm quite sure that even the old... err.. grizzled veterans on the Spatial Fidelity team would not have been able to dig up this information. Also, thank you for your support. 🙌🎉
We can only imagine how folks back in 1945 thought differently about the background music. Perhaps, they even thought it was awesome. 😉Thank you for sharing your thoughts. 🙏
Happy you liked it! Thank you for your feedback. Here's a little tidbit for you as a reward. Somehow, some guy from our team we'll call "Alex" got confused and skipped what should really have been the actual fourth episode of Hercule Poirot US adventures episode. We'll be uploading it next. Again thank you for taking time to share your thoughts. 🤗😉
Much as we'd like to stay true to the character of our diminutive Belgian sleuth, it's either a hit or a miss with our young skills and tech.😁 Rest assured that your feedback is taken into serious account and pushes us even more to do better next time. We think our more recent upload shows a correct headpiece🤠🎩 for Mr. Poirot. Thank you very much for your feedback.🙏
@@Failte630 One of our older guys remembers watching Death on the Nile and he distinctly remembers Peter Ustinov wearing a Panama hat (similar to the one shown in the video). A quick googling of the movie also shows his Poirot character wearing a pith or Safari hat. 😀 Thanks for the feedback!
Yay!🎉🍾🥂 Thank you! Your positive feedback helps push us forward to try to improve and come up with more unique videos and audio files that you will enjoy.
