No I don't DOB. I have shown through more than 24 months of results that Dobbing is far less profitable than going for 50% ROI, and far more volatile. I go for 50% of the time because in reality to get 50% ROI the horse needs to trade at 66% of it's BSP. We have a B2L Staking Calculator on the website for FREE. All you do is enter the stake, odds and your required %ROI and it will tell you what your lay stake is at what odds you'll need. Hope that helps Mike
@@insidetraxs okay thanks. Sorry I guess dobbing is 100 percent return of investment, where your going for 50 percent. The odds need to decrease by 50 percent and that's where I got confused. I will watch more of your videos and have a think about trading in that way. It's all very new to me anyway
He posts around 9am to 9.30am on X (I am a follower) and gives a 5 minute warning that he is doing so. I then go to the selection on Betfair and wait for the inevitable steep drop in the odds and when it starts to bounce back I lay. Hope that helps.
Hi Andrew sorry for the slow response - I've been unwell recently. If you go to www.timeform.com/horse-racing/results/today - this will give you all the results for the day but also up in the right hand corner you'll see a box with TYPE HERE TO SEARCH. Put the horse's name in the box and click through. You will get that horse's full form with all the Hi/Los. Best of luck Mike
13:13 When you say 'there is some support' - do you mean people are Backing the horse, and when the market comes in and the price is too low, does it mean people are Laying at this point? Tnx.
Love your stuff, and I hope you'll take this in the spirit that it's intended. The number of Um's, ah's, and urms in your speech is a major distraction and makes listening to you most difficult. I used to be an instructor with the same problem until it was pointed out to me. I was told, "Plan your speech, and speak your plan." It worked for me anyway. All the best.
Um used to do it a lot when I first started posting videos and now do pretty much what you have pointed out - plan, have stab points and speak the plan. Still do um and ah but not quite so much..ah!
Value is the key, from early morning you highlighted Black medic - 5 stars time form but at 6/1 and bigger, they will not win every time but over time you have an edge.
Great advice! some gems there to make money. Regarding trainers such Gosden and Nicky Henderson, when I see there horses on the drift I do a little checking to see why, then decide if to Lay or stay out!. You must be prepared to put in the time and effort to get you profits😁Thanks Mike.
Is the real price stable or does it change in play. Example, a front runner might often DOB so if it starts the race at 8 and i put in a lay offer at 4 without backing it am i getting value if the 4 is taken (because it should be 8) or is 4 the price it should be at the time it is taken? I am sick of backing horses that should DOB but don't and i lose my stake.
Hi Peter, The BSP is the most accurate assessment of a horse's chance of winning that you are going to get because it is the sum of all the betting knowledge out there. You may disagree if you know something that the rest of the punters don't or you have an "edge" of some sort. The example you give is about DOBing. I'm not a fan of DOBing as it is too volatile and my research shows that 50% ROI with the right selections produces better long term profits. The question you ask is are you getting value laying a front running horse at 4 when it started at 8; well I would say yes because a front runner who front runs shouldn't really shorten unless it is inside the final furlong and two lengths in front, but as B2L specialists know they do shorten and can shorten even further and still lose. So the alternative for you to B2Ls is to find horses that regularly trade lower in running but who don't win very often, and lay them in-play. Not sure if the above helps but I hope so. Cheers Mike
Absolutely right - that why I suggest that instead of a L2B I often look for an In-Play lay which looks to lay at the pre race low. A perfect example was Starproof at Brighton this afternoon. Started at 4.5 favourite and drifted right out to just below 10 based on the rain and change in ground. Front ran and reached an IP/Lo of below 2 (where I layed) and finished 5th!!
Been making my own profitable picks largely down to your insight on methodology. I've gone more stat driven due to having less knowledge on jockeys/trainers etc, and then have marked the average in play drop and started running it as my exit point. +8 and +11 over April / May so far on £1 stake
Hi Aaron, Glad to see a Member commenting. Fantastic feedback and so happy you are evolving your trading to suite your style and strengths. EVEN BETTER making PROFIT - congratulations! All the best Mike
Does a horse get its first handicap rating aged 2 as that is probably when he will have its first 3 races or can it apply to older horses? and what site do you use to get trainer information?
Hi Peter, The answer to the first question is normally for the reasons given but also yes they can get their mark at an older age. I use several sites but sbo.net is good.
Fantastic information as always Mike. You certainly know your stuff! When I have build my bank up using the information you give here, I will no doubt subscribe to your newsletter. Many thanks for all you share with us.
This is by far your worst video and i have watched loads with great info. This was titles how to spot a drifter but you NEVER explained how to spot one? You just showed what drifting is. Very clickbaity my man.

Nice video Mike!. From what I've seen and read the most significant time to trade would be the last two minutes, is that right? Or should we do our analysis using charts/WOM to pre-trade before the last 30 minutes to race time?
I try and dip in and out of a race that I am interested in. So in the morning, maybe an hour before and then get properly involved 20 - 30 minutes before. The key time to trade for me are 20 minutes to about 5 minutes before, if scalping. Charts/WOM come into play then too but become more essential in the last few minutes. Remember 80% of all money placed on a race is in the last 10 minutes or so and 50% in the last 5 minutes. So in the last 5 minutes things happen real quick so everything you have analysed about support levels is really useful so you are able to identify breakouts etc. So in summary I prefer to scalp when the market is liquid but not going mad. I like to follow the money if there is a breakout from support levels in the last 5 minutes and I am an opportunist everywhere in between (but an informed opportunist). Hope that helps. Mike
This is a great video. I really like your teaching method also. Do you by any chance have videos of you trading the ladder in race using this method, this is something I'm interested in learning.
@@insidetraxs that'll be awesome, thanks. I have found a couple of traders that use that method in play, but everything's happening so quick I can't even see where they're clicking
