Thank you..... I've been asking different companies if they could make me a piece or old 1900 coving for my living room, but absolutely no joy, now I want to do it myself and this video has given me so many tips, but can I ask what is the best method to make the mould? And what's the best plaster to use, any advice greatly appreciated
Nicely done. Looks superb. Can you show how to make the "form" you use.. How you transfer the shapes to the plate in the first place... Many thanx And hello from a dilapidated Victorian house in Brighton.. X
Can't you do it yourself? I've done a section of Victorian coving using a similar method but off the wall and will screw and glue it into place... I think its all down to building up the layers and drying in between each layer... It can't be that difficult as Victorian builders used to do it! Good.luck with yours. X
@@luissanchez1159 Hola Luis, usted dijo que se le podia preguntar. Cuales serian todos los materiales que se necesitaria para hacer las molduras en plaster?
How do you make the profile copy if you don’t have an opening in your moulding? I need to resurface damaged areas of our plaster mouldings. Hope this question makes sense. Gorgeous work!!
Check out this link from a plastering group in the UK, Stuart demonstrates a technique to create a template. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2n77Ay3f4ac.html
With a multitool/knife/padsaw cut a vertical line in your cornice. You can then stick a square bit of 1mm tin into it to trace around….this line you’ve cut can be filled with your mix later on…
Really fun to see - in whole world the same things going the same way. On Rusia we do this kind of job the similar. And i saw a lot of videos from Europe, Asia and Australia - restorers going on one good way.
Wonderful work! So descriptive in your demonstration and explaining it too. Thanks very much. I'm attempting to replace full runs that are missing in my Victorian home. I'm also making my 10 yr old grandson help me. Determined to get him a good trade and he's very enthusiastic about it.
hello, sir, excellent craftsmanship, I do have a question on some work that I've done recently, what I've noticed is that after a week I've developed small hairline cracks throughout the cornice that I've ran, wasn't sure what may have happened here, iam using autoclaved finish lime and super white moulding plaster and the ratio was a 50/50 mix. Any help would be appreciated, thank you.
Can anyone tell me what the pink base layer is on this video clip please. I am going to make coving in situ from casting plaster and lime and need some way to adhere to a multi finish plaster wall and ceiling?
Nice work. You know what your doing. I also run molds. Hopefully some young people get into this because their will be more and more of this kind of work as those old buildings get remolded.
Diesel Power We normally use a 50-50 mix of lime and molding plaster. USG or Goldbond Molding plaster. Around here Red top is gauging plaster not molding plaster. Gauging plaster will not set fast enough.
