I recently picked up Sparkle (guitar) and Legend (drums) and i must say they are quite interesting to say the least haha Wrote the foundation to a song and my brother said it definitely needs some bass and i realised i don't actually have a virtual bass so you're video was a big help and also impeccable timing ;) Think i'm going to wait for a sale on the Slap one, definitely my favourite too. Keep the vids coming <3
Thank you for the review Emma. Yes the app that I’m currently using OnSong does all this but they switched to a subscription model and depending on what tier you subscribe you are limited to how many songs you can import. I let my subscription lapse and now I can use the app but can’t import/export any new songs. Needless to say I’m looking for a new app and I think this is it. One question please, Can you change the color of the chords? Not a deal breaker but I feature I like in OnSong. Thanks again.
@stevenadvensky1761 So, I hadn't thought to check this before. Just had a look now. You can't change the colour of the text of the chords but you can add a highlighter colour to them so that they look like you've used a highlighter on them. You can change font size and colour of all of the different parts of the song, Heading, Metadata, Lyrics etc
@exhaust4246 Hi, thanks. So this video wasn't really meant to be a tutorial, which is why I didn't show audio of each plugin cause I wasn't demonstrating how I achieved a particular vocal sound, just talking about which plugins I have found I use most on my vocals. I may well do videos in the future breaking down how I achieved a particular vocal sound, but I don't consider myself experienced enough to do tutorials yet, so I more just share things I've learned or tried as more of an open discussion than a how to guide
The IP address numbers it shows are local network addresses. They only work for someone on the same WiFi network as your tablet. So there wasn't actually any need to hide them.😊
Pretty useful.: thoughtful. I have tried free writing on a subject and then cutting up the ideas and putting them in a bag then pulling them out and rearranging them in - initially a random order. Similarly randomly taking a book off my shelf and then opening random pages and choosing lines and then writing them down and doing what the first idea said. Write thirty different words and use that as a prompt - write the song only from those. You can do something like this with a dice or random number generator. Write a song using a different instrument than you normally use. I start, usually with guitar or lyrics - so perhaps use a baritone ukulele or a bass guitar. Thanks for your inspiration.
Very happy to talk about 7th chords! Did you know that blues applications of 7th chords can be traced back to the harmonica? Harmonicas were developed in classical Germany where the idea was blowing would make the I chord and drawing would make the V7 chord. Literally built to work within the traditional uses of V7 as a resolution to I But when the harmonica made its way to the west, some players were like “what if I just draw, and let that be my I7” with blowing being the IV chord. So blues musicians took the harmonica and made its use less about function and resolution, and more about vibes.
Just bought these speakers too and they do sound pretty good but maybe do need the burn in that people mention a lot, even Adam audio advise on doing it. Are yours sounding any different now?
I appreciate you doing this - I'm contemplating going down this road after 20+ years of very ingrained hotkey use. You highlighted a few ways that it might benefit my (already quite efficient) workflow. Thank you!
Also apologies for commenting twice, I only just got to the part where you mention name suggestions, maybe you could call her Rey, that’s got the sun connotation but isn’t too childish or baby sounding 😊
I just got a new Martin LX1e and it’s an absolute gem of a guitar, I love new guitar day and I also love watching other people have a new guitar day! It’s an absolutely lovely model you’ve got!
Wow! Even just listening on my phone speaker you can really hear the difference! Through my headphones it's even more obvious. The blanket fort definitely sounds better than the untreated space but the recording with the acoustic panels sounds the best by far 😊
Sorry BUT NObody wants to hear anything out there! Get your own song then i will listen or give you a thumbs up and calm on your squealing its making my EARS Bleed 🙉
Nice! Hope you enjoy them, next thing I’d recommend when budget allows is to get some external monitors for referencing, I’d recommend something like the avantone mix cubes for this
Nice one, a great example of a song without the I chord is Dreams by Fleetwood Mac, it just floats between IV and V The first progression you did while using the chords of G, feels like it sits in the key of E natural minor, Em feels like a home point of sorts The second progression, if you change that last chord from Ab to F, you have Watermelon Sugar!
well thought out Emma, just as an aside the original owners are back running the Brewery so gig opportunities are back. Live music every Wednesday Thursday :)
