Jeep JK Overland Expedition / 4wd adventure across Australia with our homemade compact camper trailer exploring the most remote and amazing wilderness this beautiful country has to offer.
@@rebelaris Still going perfectly. About 240k km on the clock. Yeah really happy with it. Gearbox is starting to get a bit noisy though, might look at rebuilding that soon.
That was one of the best videos I've ever seen. Incredibly thorough & helpful I actually think jeep might have a chance if everyone followed your protocols Thank you!
I’m about to do the rear passenger bearing. I like the drum brake slide hammer trick. I can hear the movement in the bearing at slower speeds ( getting worst now). I found movement up and down in the bearing with the wheel off. Bearing kit ordered. What brand of bearings you guys used. I ended up with a Repco brand. We see how it lasts. In my previous four wheel drive I used Timken one side and Koyo bearings on the other. Both were fine.
Canunda is known for its ability to eat newbies. Back as a teenager in the 80s in my Suzuki I’d often encounter expensive 4wds at the mercy of the tide. They’d ask for a snatch and I’d always ask for $100 because snatching a heavy vehicle in the Sierra would always make replacing the transfer case bolts a necessity. The answer was always “fuck off”. An hour or so later and we’d be “ok” as the tide crept up. 😂
Hey Jack, another great video👍 I'm taking George and a couple of mates to Canunda, Beachport and Robe. We're doing a spot of fishing and a lot of driving this weekend. This life sure beats making Sheet Rock buddy 😅 Cheers Pete

You Aussies are crafty, but I died laughing when I noticed your flip flops ! So causal your cool, Say Hi to Angus & the brother s so talented and really cool,!✌️ I used to set stages up for Ac-Dc here in U.S ❤ from the other side of our World !✌️
Hi mate. I've always used the red stuff. That's what they use to spec, think it's changed now but I'm still running red. Seems fine, no issues. Cheers Jack
@@theunlimitedexpedition9418 great thanks for reply really appreciate it ..if I flush the whole system can I use any antifreeze? because I don't know what the previous owner had in there and I wouldn't mind changing from HOAT to new technology OAT antifreeze any suggestion would be appreciated .cheers..stay safe..
5/28/23: 1:50 pm USA. Hi just curious if this would be the same procedure when doing on a 93' Jeep Grand Cherokee but with rear drum brakes, Spicer 35 axle, ABS sensor.
Wanted to say that I love your videos, they’re some of the most entertaining overlanding videos out there. Hopeful that you start putting some new ones out! The repair and overview vids of the Jeep are great too.
Note to bearing re-installers... use the old bearing collar (now split open) as a driver to push the new collar into place, and 2 hammers is better than a hammer and a punch..... 2 hammers, one each side, blamming down on opposite sides of the old bearing collar, driving the new collar home.
How did you realize that you should change the bearing at that right time ? I mean, I am somehow in the bush but I need to run more about 500km with that bearing sound. What bad thing can happen ?
Usually the first indication is a leaking seal. If there is no noise you should get 1000km or even more before the bearing collapses. If there is a noise, failure is imminent probably within the next few hundred ks. If it fails and you continue to drive, it will most likely destroy the axle shaft, brake rotor and possibly the axle housing itself. Once the bearing seat on the axle housing is chewed out, its new axle time for you.
Well, personally I'm going with Yokohama Geolander MTZ next, I've heard nothing but good about them. But Falkons are tempting and toyo's and pro comp x's look good too. I haven't had any of these but they all look like good tyres and people seem to be happy with them. Ask people when you're out and about, on the trails etc. Most real 4wders will give a fair opinion.
@@theunlimitedexpedition9418 not sure if you could answer this but where in NSW could you get tyres like pro comp or even odd size tyres?? Agreed about the 003's I'm on Jeep sites and they love how they wear and perform.
Hey mate. Yeah seems to be ok, i haven't done much to it; just the usual, timing belt, water pump etc. I did change 2 injectors about 10k ago. Done 210k km now, going well. Cheers
I'm with you on the need for stronger climate policies. Don't listen to the deniers. When you go out to these places, you see first hand the effect our changing climate is having. Speak to seasoned fire fighters and they will tell you the fires are hotter and more fierce than ever. Keep up the message and the good work. Drove the Deddick/Bowen tracks last weekend. They were on my list too!.
Great videos.. planning to do this next year.. just wondering.. do you have a daily rough schedule from Esperance across? Rough estimates and where you ended up camping across the trip? Keep it going! Awesome work!
Hi mate, Esperance to Bilbunya dunes probably about 2 days. Things get really slow once you climb the escarpment - 15km/h is about average speed. Budget at least 2 days to get to the bird observatory but 3 would be better. You can camp anywhere really but the old Telegraph station has a camp ground with trees. Bilbunya dunes is nice to camp. There are plenty of places alone the cliffs too. My 2 biggest pieces of advice: have good 4wd tyres and take plenty of fuel. Steer clear of the salt pans too. Cheers Jack
You would think a person that off-roads a good bit would know about warranty. I know of no mud tires that have a warranty because well they’re mud tires. Currently run Toyo mts 12 ply with no complaints. I don’t go rock crawling just gravel road to get were I’m going so can’t say about chipping.
