This film is inspired by the novel Fingersmith. Director Park Chan-Wook didn't realise the book had already been made into a mini-series, so changed the setting to 1930s Korea for his adaptation.

Just a little addition, the young North Korean soldier handed Chun Woo the little boar's red hankie as a going away gift. That's why the mommy boar mistakenly traced them in the meeting area--they have the scent-filled hankie of her child.
couldn't agree more to that 'useless doctor' sksksks. as someone majoring in psychology, I got annoyed everytime he said that it was just a hallucination.
