Mr. Meldow: What better to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ than by having every bone in my body crushed by standing for five minutes in the book section of a WHSmiths store. Me: Now THAT's not fair, Mr. Meldew. Not everyone buys books at WHSmiths at Christmas.....Some people buy them from Waterstones.
Richard Wilson appeared in “Some mothers do ave em” and the infamous “£40” scene where his character sits down on a sofa and sinks into it. 😂. A clever Frank Spencer in-joke. At the end of the scene, he did show some early Victor Meldrew grumpiness.
23:46 Victor’s Complaint About Mrs. Warboys’s Nativity Play & Later, 27:30 Victor Meldrew Wasted The Expensive Bottle Of Wine For The Bubble & Squeak Which He Mistook Pippa’s Dad’s Christmas Gift For Great Aunt Joyce Is Hilarious. Shame That They Didn’t Add The Aforementioned Nativity Play Scene In The 1st Xmas Special, Should’ve Been A Extended Version Of That.
A wonderful actor and a genuinely lovely man. I loved him in One Foot in the Grave and fitted the role of Victor Meldrew perfectly. Whenever people said his catchphrase "I don't believe it!", he was alright with it as it was a testament to Meldrew's legacy. Thanks Richard for so much pleasure ❤ 😊
They've just done a new HD transfer of this episode plus two other extended episodes that are all on film. The other two are the one where he finds the nursing home where the patients are abused and the one where they are stuck in a traffic jam the whole episode.
Never laugh more....and yesterday i watch the film ladykillers from 1955 in german...i hope we can host england in dortmund during the em 2024...for years i have only listen to bfbs as long as british soldiers are in dortmund9
Quite personally, I've never really cared much for mother in laws, who want to play a game, but do it over the phone, only to fall asleep on the toilet.
I love how he went through all that just to get his revenge. Victor revenge moments were one of the best things about this show. lol Victor Meldrew is a legend.
Yeah. I mean if I was a delivery guy and Victor said to me put it the downstairs toilet. I would know he meant leave in there, not plant the bloody thing in the toilet. 😂
I found one foot in the grave boring as a kid I never got it, but now I think it’s hilarious. It’s quite genius because as a kid victor’s humour is just moaning and you just didn’t get the comedy, well at least I didn’t. I also find a lot of comedy we watched back in the old days that when you revisit it you finally get it. Obviously victor is all of us when we get older is what finally makes victor so funny because you see yourself in him is literally the genius part. It’s kind of like hey kids you will be just like me when you’re older I could imagine victor saying that. As a kid if comedy wasn’t silly and over the top it wasn’t funny.
@@nigelbenn4642 That only applies to minor fractures, major fractures can take as long as 12. There's also the matter of his age - the older one is, the longer it takes the bone to heal
When i was a kid we visited an elderly relative who was sick. Everyone was gathered in her bedroom. She passed an empty glass to another kid already in the room and said "could you get me some water from the toilet there", pointing in the direction of the bathroom. He returned with the glass half full, held at arms length, with his hand shaking, offering it to her. She inquired why he was approaching like that and he said "it's toilet water and it's disgusting!" The whole room erupted in laughter as the poor kid was left dumbfounded. Absolutely priceless 😅
