That's the 'Quiet Horn' being used at Simla Crescent Station on the Johnsonville Line, so as not to deafen the passengers on the platform. Yes, the local residents kicked up a stink when these were first driven up the Johnsonville Line, but that's not the reason for the use of the Quiet Horn. The Loud Horn is still used up the Johnsonville line, much to the disgust of the residents.
This set was commonly referred to among the staff as the 'Super Ganz'. It was a pig to drive, and most of the added features didn't work properly, or at all. It was forever breaking down, and in the end they would only let it go out coupled to another Ganz, for fear of it breaking down by itself, and thus needing to be rescued.
10 car EM/ET Ganz Mavag sets weren't uncommon while shunting. These ones were being taken to the yards for storage overnight. If you look closely, between the 6th and 7th car you can see the taillights are still on, this more than likely means these were two incoming services (a 6car and a 4car) coupled together for easier shunting purposes.
A Ganz Mavag unit shutdown on the Down Main, Paekakariki, New Zealand. I'm assuming it was just after the big storms hit, and there was no power to the overhead lines for a few days.

when I was young I rode on these ADL class DMU's a lot and I love them so much because the seats on them are very, very comfortable. The ADL class DMU's are the best trains ever and they're my number 1 favourite.
