If there was a true working class hero, with balls the size of an elephant, it was Fred, fearless friend of the people of Bolton and surrounding countries. Steeple jack, incredibly talented steam engineer and comedian. Definitely missed by all that knew him and those who didn’t. Absolutely a legend and god of the chimney and churches too. R I P LAD
He used to say if you meet someone from Bolton within 5 minutes they will tell you they're from Bolton. I can confirm this to be true and has made me laugh at inappropriate moments when being told without asking "I'm from Bolton" 😂. Thanks Fred
Does anyone remember Fred being banned for driving for 12 months in July 1988?. No I'm not making this up, this was mentioned in the Liverpool Echo newspaper dated 25th July 1988 which I came across recently. None of the Fred Dibnah series seem to mention this.
Just love the Cat story. Glad it survived it's adventure up the chimney and hopefully it still had another 8 lives left. Fabulous !!! Fred could certainly tell a story. Great after-dinner speaker. God Bless him.
some fammiliar faces there looks like driver jack goodwin blowing kisses at the end there , used to go london on days out with him my dad and a few others , funny guy he used to say mind this monkey doesn't knick your choccolate when he comes out when we were on the underground platforms 🤣🤣🤣🤣
captures everything about victoria at that time , i weep at the wanton destruction when i visit now , i avoid a lot as too many ghosts ,, many fondly remembered visited places for me east west junction , deal street ( never went in irwell bridge ) the train crew rest room balcony ate lunch there often with many great charachters never got on east junctions roof those shots were terrific happy days i'd happily go back to
Wonderful character who I had the pleasure of meeting many years ago. Never tire of watching his stuff and listening to his tales. This was a great clip of Fred really drawing people into his world for an hour. Pity the poe faced woman behind him struggled to raise a smile most of the time and found her watch more interesting. I think she perhaps some of Fred's dialogue was lost on her! R.I.P Fred and thanks for sharing your fantastic memories.
What a lovely man Fred was so full of enthusiasm and clever too he dint just talk the job he accomplished many many task most would shy away from loved this man so greatly missed.
This is a man I would love to have met. His interest in history and victorian engineering was great. And his engineering knowledge was amazing. I could have listened to him all day.
Nearly a hour he dragged that our for. Fred loved being front and centre and he could tell a story. Plus he had a roving eye for the ladies. Miss old Fred. Icon ❤️
