You're missing a key point as too why nostalgia is so strong nowadays today's entertainment is horrendous 90% of the time. Nostalgia would be niche if modern day entertainment wasn't so bland/bad that simple . But I 100% agree with your premise
I'm only excited for Zootopia 2 and the inclusion of reptiles killed a little of the hype for me. At least it's the one that has more chances to be actually good, since it's directors are pretty much the only ones that haven't made something bad.
This had to be said. I loathe when people say indie animation will overtake mainstream animation when in reality what they need to do is form an alliance with the mainstream businesses. For instance, A24 is allowed to showcase their films in Hollywood’s theaters, while The Amazing Digital Circus is shown on Netflix. It also requires, like you said, unionizing and the mainstream companies giving in to change.
You’re right lately I have stop being nostalgic for a good amount reasons and one of the reasons is, is that if you’re too nostalgic to even letting go of the past and moving on, it literally stops you from growing up and maturing later on in life. Now I’m sure you could be nostalgic for certain amount things but don’t hold on to nostalgia like it’s the last thing you have because it will still be there when you’re old enough to look back on the past and that’s why I just simply let it go.
You know when the owl house is good because honesty I was recommended to watch the owl house because I liked gravity Falls. And i honestly hated the owl house because I thought it would be overrated. But gave it a chance and it was amazing and I wish i could go back and smack my past self for hating the owl house

I had a favorite cartoon when I was a kid. My brother and I always watched it when it was on TV, and recently I finally remembered what it was called "Kim possible". I was completely sure it was a masterpiece and of course I wanted to review it. So i sat down, watched a few episodes and jesus Christ what a BS it was 😭. Nostalgia disappointed me very much
This is a great video. In terms of animated movies, I'm a big fan of the Trolls movies. Often times, I see other DreamWorks fans trash these movies just because they're not like the older DreamWorks movies. It sucks honestly because I can see what makes these movies great, yet people go on about how it's not Shrek or Kung Fu Panda, two series people get nostalgic over. Me and Pixar, I feel like I've been open to their recent movies, loved Luca, Turning Red, and Elemental.
You're right. Indie animation alone can't save the industry. Hence why the audience also needs to cooperate to tell mainstream what we do need. The better treatment of the staff, the knowing of when NOT to meddle, and the need to show some faith on a product rather than wanting maximum profit right away. We need to support the right course of mainstream animation, by not treating it as just a genre. Of course, there's the risk that these big wigs think the genres are what's selling, not the execution. Like, imagine Disney seeing TADC and rather than thinking that they should provide a better product, they just copy the show itself. So, in short, support indie animation and the correct mainstream animation practises.
Inside Out 2 has proven that nostalgia can work. Deadpool and Wolverine has done the same too. Both movies made over a billion dollars and were welcomed by fans. This leaves me optimistic about the upcoming sequels. Besides, we didn't really give Disney a choice, in terms of them deciding to focus on sequels. If more Disney fans had just given Wish more of a chance, the film would've been more of a financial success, and it would've encouraged Disney to make more originals Also, X-men 97 is another good example that nostalgia works

You know the old saying goes: Nostalgia can be one hell of a drug. Nothing wrong with a little nostalgia, but I always looking forward to new things. To be fair, there are some stuff from my childhood that I didn't like back then either. On the other hand, there are some stuff that came out now that weren't that bad. The problem I have with nostalgia is that people blindly treated the past look better than it already is instead looking at it objectively, and didn't give anything new a fair chance. It's best to move forward an not look backwards. Oh, as for the whole Amphibia Twitter situation, yeah, it's fuckin' stupid. You wanna know a good example of blind nostalgia ruined everything for everyone, this a good example. And you wonder we live in a world we can't have things. "DBZ knockoff" my ass.
A major reason i still watch movies/shows I grew up with isn't because of nostalgia, it's because of how well made they are. How much they get right. I apprecaite them more over time because of how impressive they are. A major reason i didn't watch something like the Incredibles 2 is because it didn't look or feel like a true continuation. Didn't feel like you could pick up right where we left off and never felt like you left. It just feels like another nostalgia bait reboot with some flashy animation. Hollywood has lost it's ability to be sincere towards the characters, the world, and most importantly towards the fans.
Soul Is not as matute as most people think, cause in it's attempts to appeal to an older audiences but not wanting to leave younger ones aisde, at the end it feels unfocused and dull at some points. If you wanna watch a real mature animated movie about our perception of life, Anomalísa Is the best one
Some movies these days are just bad. For example Wish, I watched it with an open mind last night and even though there were some good parts, it was badly written, the animation was off in some way. Kind of dull. So it's not entirely about nostalgia and old things being good. Not all movies are made equal.
For me I pick owl house, yeah there are just 3 seasons and small episode's but the story the friendships and ofc lumity and also the story is more exciting but it's just my opinion

We should always feel positive about the new things coming out, from music (including smaller genres), film, literature, etc. It's okay to say something new is better than the older one or the older being better than the new, depending on quality. An example is me choosing 1983 Scarface over the original or the 2005 Chocolate Factory over the 1971 adaptation. When it comes to music, I enjoy even the smaller or moderately known music such as today's brutal electronic music from the Aim to Head channel, for example, rock and metal bands of this generation. Seems like some people don't want to dig deep into their research to look for something we would like, but when you do, you will feel much happier and more likely to appreciate the work artists put in. Traditional animation made its comeback in the 2020s in small cases like the release of Wolfwalkers and became one of my favourite animated movies of this era. DreamWorks has their two comebacks in the same year with CGI animated The Bad Guys and Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, which have meaningful messages. In the end, don't get stuck in the past, learn to move on, and build optimism. Try something that will benefit your health like talking about something you love such as those I mentioned and exercise. There is always more to life.
as a fan of mlp g5 i agree with you nostalgia for g4 ruined the mlp fandom for me and i couldn't find decent amount of positive reviews and everywhere I look i always find more negative opinions on g5 because nostalgia for g4 and now g5 is getting canceled without proper ending I'm not sure if I want to stay in the mlp fandom anymore 😢
