My blog: www.flytying.ro and my business site: www.troutline.ro
I own TroutLine which is a family business created in 2004 in Transylvania.
Even if it’s a young business, it has strong and deep roots, as the family members have been passionate fishermen for 3 generations. It all started with one of the grandfathers that built swivel spoons from silver coins from the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Then he would also tie flies from hemp or Carpathian Shepherd Dog hair and he would wrap a rooster or hen feather that he took from the poultry in his own courtyard. However, these are old stories :)
In 2015 I decided to give up my career as engineer in physics and I started working for my family business (TroutLine).
From the moment I started taking care of the family business, I didn't work a single day. Because fishing and fly tying is my passion.
Now I spend as much time fishing with my kids and friends :)

That works much better than hackling then tying then laying them forward. Much more control. Definitely going to start doing this since all my Partridge skins apparently are from the Jurassic period of birds.

Do you prefer to fishit dead drift,on the swing or both? During an emergence with trout feeding you want to keep it high in the film or slightly under? Thanks...by the way your CDC feathers are the best ever.Alberto

@LucianVasies 19 дней назад
@farioreo ciao Alberto😃, I prefer to swing the flies and I use dead drift in certain situations ( when i combine a small wet with a dry fly). But of course, it depends of rivers and how fish eat in certain moments 😊

45+ years ago when I had much better eyesight, I used to use 22 and 24 hooks, 12 oz hook length and a 1 1/2 lb mainline with pinkies as the bait for river roach and dace. So I realise just how tiny a 22 hook is and the skill needed to tie this tiny fly.

Here, in Central and East Europe, we love to fish for grayling. This fish can be extremely picky and these flies are perfect for such situations :). I completely understand. Forty-five years ago, it would have been much harder to do something like this. Back then, materials were scarce and not nearly as good as what we have today. It brings back memories of my grandfather's flies. I know how much work he put into them, and let's just say, he wasn't thrilled when a few boxes went missing every now and then. Cheers and thank you for your comment and sharing your experience with me :)

@@LucianVasies Grayling _(Thymallus thymallus)._ The lady of the Stream. They even smell like Thyme. hence their latin name. they are simply stunning fish. Especially those males with the extra large dorsal fin. And if you hold one and catch it in the light, it shimmers all colours and looks like it's been bathed in a light oil. Dare I ask what you do with them? Eat or return? And if you eat them, what do they taste like? I'm only asking as I used to catch trout for the table.
@LucianVasies
@LucianVasies Месяц назад
@@thezanzibarbarian5729 Hi :). I practice catch and release most of the time. However, when I fish far north (like in Lapland), I might keep one or two fish for a fresh meal. If I'm by a riverbank, I'll usually catch a fish or two and cook them on a fire right there. On lakes, though, I prefer to catch a couple of perch. I find their flavor superior. Sometimes I might keep a trout or two, but I stick to smaller sizes, around 30cm. Anything bigger goes back in. As for grayling, I don't target them for food. Their meat is delicate and lean, which can be bland when cooked outdoors.

Hi David, thanks for your comment. Please contact Devin Olsen (Tactical Fly Fisher), his shop stocks lots of Trout Line products. Sumo is a type of GSP thread from the last generation.
