The official RU-vid Channel for Mick Flannery. Mick Flannery is one of Ireland’s most acclaimed songwriters and singers. The award-winning, double-platinum selling artist has released seven studio albums, three of which have reached No. 1 status in his homeland. Mick Flannery’s songs are fluent in expressing layered aspects of the human condition, its flaws, triumphs, and general uncertainty. His live shows are renowned for his self-deprecating humor, audience engagement and the ability to bring people on a journey of both heartbreak and joy, often in the same instance. Mick's most recent album, "Goodtime Charlie", is a collection of songs that summon up characters and scenes and give voice to emotions that have transformed into an album. Goodtime Charlie has more collaborative songwriting on it than any previous records. “It sparks you out of your comfort zone,” Mick says, “It opens up the neural pathways, you wonder ‘how would someone else do this?’.
I've seen Mick 5 times or so. He's a massively under appreciated artist/singer/songwriter/performer. Last time I saw him I had the pleasure of seeing Susan O'Neill too and to say her voice was breathtaking would be an understatement.
Thanks Mick and Susan. Trouble's message resonates deep within me. Discovered Mick a while back when I was preparing to write a song that I wanted to call Fack Off World...but I Googled it to see if someone else had written one called that. I was shocked at how closely it mirrored some of the content | was thinking about. I know music changes things, people, society, adds connection, joy, etc, I just wish it could bring it to more people, deeper, faster. If only we could see change in the way of the Vaughn brothers, Tick Tock song.
Rich velvety folk/country/Americana that just gives me warm Rick Danko & Emmylou Harris vibes (a pair of heavyweights I would also pay anything to hear them cover this - so I'll just imagine it in Rick's raspy later life unique tone). Beautiful! ❤!
I love this. Heard it on the radio today. I must admit I wasn’t that interested in Mick when I first heard him as the tone was too close to the well known American singer he was often compared to, but this is his own voice, shaped by a real lovelorn heart. Well done on a fine achievement
I can't believe I'm just finding this, been a fan of Flannery since before the pandemic but I'm only just finding about this collab and the album, you guys matched your voices beautifully, not to speak of the lyrics of the whole album.
Tom Waits needs to worry and watch out Mick Flannery is around. This is class, this is the best, Mick Flannery should be known all over the word at a singer/songwriter, Susan O Neill is a brilliant singer, a perfect match
