As someone who works in Dentistry just please stop. Electric toothbrushes are better than manual toothbrushes, but neither will protect your oral hygiene unless you brush before bed and brush the gums gently. If you see blood when you brush your gums, I insist that you persist. They'll only improve in the course of a fortnight if you keep brushing. Go try the dentist and don't fear judgement because you're paying someone for a service and they're likely not judging you. Build up the courage and tell the receptionist and or dentist that you're nervous, and they'll treat you with compassion because that's part of their training. Whatever you do, brush your gums, regardless of bleeding. The more you brush your gums, the less they will be puffy, sore and bleed
Beware, although the Oral B Pro series brush heads sold in the UK will "fit" on the Oral B toothbrushes sold in the USA, they do not engage properly with the motor shaft and do not rotate properly. So part of the answer is that compatibility may be country-specific.
@2:28 "dental professionals go through extensive training to use them correctly." 17 months to 20 months for a dental hygienist degree, these programs include a bunch of other curriculums and maybe 4 labs on the tool use. how does this guy define extensive?

The difference between 64 and 73 decibels is the difference between an ant fart and a bee fart, not worthy of mention in my opinion. To be honest I never even noticed the sound of the toothbrush to be honest. You know how on the box of cereal it says "Enlarged to show detail?" Well similar here because the toothbrush is not as loud as this video portrays.
Thanks for answering the question I didn't know I needed the answer too. Good to know that a bee fart is 9 decibels louder than that of an ant! 👍 Appreciate your comment, but I've gotten lots of feedback about how noisy the Pro 3 is. Sound is a real trigger for some people. Compared to a lot of other toothbrushes from the likes of Philips, Oclean and more it is. Just to be clear I am not trying to make more of a deal out of it than it is. Just presenting my findings from having used both.
Love the video. Bought the Orale B 360 and I can't tell what mode I am using. There is no icons on the handle that light up the different modes that you can scan through and chose . But they are not visible on the handle. Plain white handle and I have to try to guess to find the sensitive mode Honestly not very smart. It says to use the button to pick a mode. Unfortunately don't know which mode I am choosing.
There are a few different versions of the Smart Clean 360. The latest models have 5 modes (daily clean, sensitive, gum care, whitening & pro clean). using oclean since covid 2019 and still on it, i have 2 the first was the pro on 2019 it comes in green color and the second one i got it last year the elite version in white, i feel the pro has more power and clean deeper i can feel it on my teeth, whats your thought and how those are compared to oral b line ups and sonic care?
I feel the Oclean models are comparable to Sonicare. I personally feel I get a more intense and invigorating clean from the Oral-B models. But all do a good job of cleaning the teeth. The cleaning sensation is one thing, but my plaque disclosing results show they all remove the bacteria from the teeth well.
Hello Jon. I bought one this week, it's a shame its not as powerful as the rechargeable Oral B Pro 600. I really liked the idea of being able to change the battery when it gets weaker and holds less charge over time. Do you know if there is an AA battery version of any electric toothbrush that is more powerful?

I have the smart 6 toothbrush. It doesn't have little icons on the handle and I can't seem ti change it through the app so how am I meant to know which mode I am on?

So this part number relates to various models (Genius 6000, Genius 7000, Genius 8000, Genius 9000, Genius 10000, iBrush 8000, iBrush 9000, iBrush 10000, Smart 6000, Smart 7000, Pro 6000, Pro 7500, Pro 8000). As far as I am aware ALL of these have icons on the front that get backlit to highlight which mode is which. Are you sure yours has no icons? Might they just not be lighting up? For example, Daily Clean is the first mode, but as stupid as it sounds, it has no icon on the handle to show this mode is active. You need to press the down arrow key/mode button to change the mode before an icon lights up.

If you mean power, then the Burst Water Flosser. The Ordo Hydro Sonic is also powerful. However, the claimed power and what you feel is influenced by a number of factors so some flossers can feel more or less powerful than you might expect.
Kriss also mentioned keeping an eye out for infections and bone loss. Is this something that is less common than being lose and possibly chocking on it?
Bone loss as a result of loosing your natural teeth is common. How severe and and what rate does depend. However, with missing teeth and aging it will happen. It is arguably more common than choking, but that depends on what data you are comparing it too.
Great review as always, Jon. I bought this toothbrush on your recommendation and I absolutely love how gentle is it on my receding gums. One worry I have is, no matter how much I try to achieve the green light when brushing, I always end up going from not enough pressure to too much. I find the smart pressure a distraction. When I briefly manage to achieve green, it's too much pressure for me. I'm hoping even without achieving the optimal pressure, I'm still giving my teeth a good clean.
Glad you like the review and are pleased with the brush. Thanks for the feedback on the pressure sensor. Ideally you want to be getting that green, but you will still be doing an ok job I am sure with a bit less. With receding gums you do have to be careful. 👍
@@ElectricTeeth huge charging/charge retention issues and now the screen has stopped working. It’s the second time it’s happened and the warranty has now expired. If I didn’t have a small stockpile of (expensive) iO heads I’d be looking at something else
I've asked you a bunch of questions throughout all of your other videos and I really appreciate all of your input. Thank you for that. I have decided on the Oral-B io5, but ive noticed two different io5s. What's better the io5 or the io5 Limited? It says io5 limited rechargeable, but I don't know what that means. Do you know the difference? I can't seem to find the answer.
As far as I know the only difference is the box contents. The iO5 limited comes with a brush head refill holder (essentially a little travel case for replacement brush heads). Technically and functionality wise the brush handles are the same.
Does the charging station needs to be plugged in at all times for it to work, or does it work by simply "charging" it and it goes empty after a while? Can someone say?
You need to have the charging stand plugged in every time you use the brush if you want the clock/lights/timer to be functioning. You don't have to have it plugged in between uses if you don't want to. But, it is designed to be plugged in all the time. You would need it plugged in for longer periods of time every couple of weeks to recharge the battery inside the iO10 brush handle.
Hello, what's the difference between this model and the smart 360? It's similar to the smart 1500 as well but I'm extremely confused between all three models and don't know which one to get. What's the major benefit of one over the other?
There are all very similar. Basically the almost identical brushes rebadged to be sold via different retailers. It's not worth worrying too much about the differences. But they are: The Pro Clean X has 4 modes, whereas the 360 has 5 and the Smart 1500, just 3. The 360 and Pro Clean X have a button to change between modes, whereas the Smart 1500 uses the power button. The 360 and Pro Clean X come with a travel case. The 360 and Pro Clean X are dual handled models, so 2 brush handles and extra brush heads in the box. The 360 and Pro Clean X are the 'best' value, if you need or want more than 1 handle.
Awesome idea in theory, if the mechanics are resolved. They should buy a Oral B water flosser, reverse engineer it. If they could put improved heads on it with the rest of an Oral-B, you may have something there. 👍
