if only it had been like this for me, after three and a half years i am still recovering and dare not risk having my second eye done as blurry vision is better than no vision. there again im from the UK so surgery was done on the NHS and it was horrendous from stat to finish.
Absolutely. A total horror story. Terrible pain after op, Blind for 2 days then blurry vision like looking through frosted glass. Operation was a success. I just cannot see. I teach, my vision is so much worse now than before and it's a struggle to read my work books. Wish I had never gone near the cataract operation. It's a complete take in..they want to do the other eye now! I don't think so! one blurry eye is better than two blurry eyes =blindness to me.
I got RLE for cataract but was told the lenses only cover one vision range, so why couldn’t they cover all ranges from veryvery near to very far, Plus, I still need glasses, because computer distance doesn’t help with close up reading pill bottles, and distance has glare issues. I chose mono vision because it’s all that was covered with zero copay, but I had hoped I would not need any more glasses. They said the lenses that tout near and far in a singular lens isn’t proven any way( are a high out of pocket expense as they aren’t covered) and they said the multi focal lenses have a far far worse halo effect that can make driving at night or in the rain dangerous.
Great video! I watched it after having cataract surgery and tonic lens implant! My vision is so amazing now. It was interesting watching the procedure live!
My mom did her cataract surgery but it wasn’t better the doctor had to do it again and the doctor then said it’s a Conear problem. And they gave her vitadium eye drop. Will it be better with time?
I wore glasses only at night to drive, could see fine during day. Had cataract surgery 15 days ago with the expensive lenses. I cancelled my second eye because I am having trouble focusing on anything. Things are bright but my focus is off, my peripheral vision is so out of whack my that my equilibrium is is way off & I fell down our basement stairs TWICE in 2 days. Broke my leg the second time! Went back to Dr. 2 days ago & he said I am a slow healer & put a contact lens in that eye. It was somewhat ok until the next morning. Now I am back to the same can"t focus vision. I wish I had NEVER had cataract surgery!
I just had cataract surgery done in October 2 weeks later the other eye in November 2023 . I paid to have a laser correct surgery for my astigmatism with upgraded lenes ( Clareon UV IOL ) they were set for distance & readers after surgery. As well as seeing 20/20. NOPE - Have to wear glasses now !! Not only can I not see up close, but my distance is off as well. Now dealing Halos in my own house & light Sensitive left like this since Nov. Unable to see clearly I am fall risk.& live alone. This has been the worst experience of my life nobody should ever be left in the condition I've been left in & I'm still waiting on my glasses
My preop consultation was 10 minutes. MD surgeon wrote in patient notes had LONG discussion with patient, in CAPs. Eight days post op with Vivity non-toric lens vision was 20\100 and OD set up appt with MD 12 days post op. Now day 10 and rapidly improving, keeping my fingers crossed. If vision is not 20\40 or better on day 12 I have to decide if I want the second eye operation scheduled for day 13. It was FLACS laser assisted.
Hello Dr. Schumer and Dr. Litzinger, I had both my eyes operated for cataract with B & L, EDOF lenses. Being myopic with -8/-8 eyesight I had barrage laser for my right eye for a horse shoe tear and left eye for a lattice one week before the operation. The cataract operation was successful, but till now after 4 weeks my vision is still blurred and I cannot see clearly beyond 3 metres, reading vision is good. During post operation check, my laser barrage are healing well, OCT is also good. My query is whether my vision is going to improve over a period of time. I don't mind waiting. Thanks! in advance Doctor.
I had both eyes done at the same time. The doctor said that because of the difference between the two eyes, if I had only one done, I would see double. I was TERRIFIED! Everything went smoothly, no pain whatsoever. I had noticeable improvement immediately, but close-up vision was a little blurry. Within a day or two that resolved itself. I am using cheap readers until everything settles down. I am taking drops per doctor's orders. After four days, I drove my car and it really felt strange to drive without glasses. I like wearing glasses, so I may have bifocals with little or no correction in the top section and reading prescriptions in the bifocal part. I'm excited to reach the conclusion of the process. I am being treated by Kaiser Permanente in Los Angeles.
I don't really "like" wearing glasses but I must say I felt like everything was "coming at me" once I wasn't wearing them! Especially once I didn't have to wear the eye protector. After several weeks it is much better but I still want glasses when moving forward as in going for a walk or even somewhat in the car. I also would like clear top bifocal ( only for the tiniest instructions), perhaps with antiglare yellowish tinting. THis is the first comment I have read to kinda echo my experience. Otherwise clear vision and happy camper.
I'm from London Age 67, 4 week back my right eye done with famtosecend lesser cataract surgery Alcon vivity lens implants .still my vision not that clear my left eye still very good vision now i don't feel to go for left eye,bcz I'm dropping on my left eye vision,i diabetic,my surgeon says everything clear behaind the eyes its the reason my Age, i don't understand this one year back my vision was so good i was able to read the sign bord after cataract surgery i still feel like still cataract in my eye, I'm so upset sir can you answer me why my vision still dim and dll specially my vision not good to see for awy im stagarlling.can you answer me please thanks
I don’t understand how insurance does not pay for the best. I’m a photographer and I don’t get to tell my clients they pay more if I use my better cameras
So sad to see so many people having issues after cataract surgery. I went from wearing "Coke bottle" glasses as a youth (thank goodness for polycarbonate!) to 20/20 vision. Everything is clear, bright, and as one friend of mine said, it's almost like 3-D vision. so far I've just had one eye done and I wish I could have the second one done tomorrow instead of next month! The untreated eye is still very blurry, of course, and the colors are murky. I had no idea that I had lost my color perception so badly over the years. Best thing I ever did for myself.
vegasrenie, I am so happy for you, I am praying mine goes as well as yours. I am so so so scared, I'm not gonna lie, there have been many tears & a queezy stomach over this, but, I can't live with cataracts, so, I have no choice. I just wanted to say, I'm so happy for you, you're so brave. :)
@@susan945 it's still amazes me as I drive that I have the ability to see miles in the distance! The one drawback is that I have to wear reading glasses now. And I have reading glasses all over the house!
Although lens replacement surgery in most cases restores vision completely, there is still one negative consequence. A large number of patients develop secondary cataracts over time: from 30-50% of those operated on. CONCLUSION: even if you implant the most expensive or the most technologically advanced lens FOR 30-50% of patients, you will need to make a HOLE in the back wall of the capsule, which turned into a secondary cataract as a result of implanting a foreign body into the eye tissue - so that LIGHT reaches the retina - wouldn’t it be easier to just insert A “GOOD” MONOFOCAL HYDROPHOBIC LENS and not to “ride the ears” of society - no need for lies!!! .......The point is not how the operation is performed or what lens is implanted, but what can and does happen in almost half of the patients after some time has passed. ....Why then do eye surgeons mainly ADVERTISE various ARTIFICIAL LENSES??? Answer: 1) campaigning to acquire patients, AND IN THE RESULT MONEY 2) Companies that produce not only lenses, but also related devices and materials, THAT IS, THE ENTIRE INDUSTRY AROUND THE EYES is initially interested in ADVERTISING their products. (but this is not advertising around cars or sneakers, etc., BUT THESE ARE EYES...)
I always been with the KISS method. KISS keep it simple stupid. I just went with what the insurance would pay and even with the correction in my left eye it has been great. After what my wife had her done 7 years ago and she had the insurance paid implants it just made sense. I fully realize I will be wearing glasses post surgery no big deal for me as I been wearing them for the better part of 62 years of my 66 year life glasses are no issue for me. I was checked by the doctor for getting the fancy expensive lens and he agreed with me that I really was not a good candidate for the fancy expensive lens. Just getting the mid to long range vision improved cut my dependence of needing my glasses all the time.

My cararact surgerY went great no pain. Immediate greatly improved vision. I can't wait for the second eye to be done. all i experience is a bit of scratchy eye that is it.
I had to do my own eye drops. I developed edema behind my cornea and I also found out that I had Fuchs Corneal Dystrophy. I will need reading glasses but see 20/20 at a distance which is amazing. The day after the first one it looked bright white like a Tide commercial. The one with edema looked pink. It was wild living like that until I got medication to help with the edema.
I got Panoptix lenses so I wouldn't need glasses at all. Boy, was that ever a mistake! Left eye is OK for distance but not perfect. Right eye, my dominant eye, is much worse so both eyes do not work well together. Both eyes are horrible for reading. I need readers at 2.50. I have had theYAG laser procedure on both eyes. Now doctor is considering another laser surgery (PRK) but I don't want to go through the discomfort for such little difference. I suspect I'll be wearing glasses again. Don't expect miracles.
Sorry for your problems with the tri-focal lens. I too had them put in with some serious side effects. Floaters. A different doctor said my vitrius was looked like a snow globe. Thousands of out of pocket dollars later that is better but thinking of a future round of YAG laser treatment. And there is the post capsule opasification that also needs fixing. While most gain great visual acuity with lens replacement a few of us don't have optimal results. I also went for neuro-vision therapy which along with the Floaters treatment has given me my life back, albeit only mostly. Keep looking into improving your vision. There are doctors and therapies which may help you. Don't take no for an answer.
Has anyone here had the Trimax/Trimox injected/instilled in the eye instead of using the 30 day eye drops to prevent infection in the eye,And was wondering how long it took for the blurriness to clear up Thanks
I had a cataract surgery on my bad left eye om 2/08/23 laser and trimoxi. After a week, my vision is a crazy 20/15. Just amazing. The colors are amazing. After 2 weeks, the floaters after trimoxi are mostly gone. On 2/22/23 had a cataract surgery (laser and trimoxi) on my right eye. First day was some blurry. As of today, have floaters, but much smaller in size comparing to the first day. Vision is good but not as good as the other eye (but it is only 4 days after surgery). I would say it is 20/25. For this eye I still need to add some drops (one drop twice a day) for a month in addition to trimoxi. They told me it is just a precaution, because of some wrinkle. Overall, I am extremely happy. The laser procedure is done in a different room and next I walked to the surgery room. Did not feel a thing. Before surgery I tried not to drive at night because of halos. No halos anymore. I've got Vivity lenses. Great vision on a distance and at the computer. No glasses at all. If I need to read a small print, I am using reading glasses 1.5 from Target or just move a little farther and can see it without glasses. Just want to add, that I went to renew my driver's license a month ago. Doctor prescribed me glasses just for the vision test. I failed it with my left eye and hardly passed with my right one. Hope it will help.
@@eugeneshannon3681 Thanks for the reply glad it worked out for you.... Read some reviews that makes a person feel like its a Dr advertising,But in the end everyone makes their own mind up on what to do...But in my case 18 days after surgury, And still blurry in the left eye,Right eye postponed for a while... SO people be warned do your research
@@jimd7241 Hello Jim. I did a lot of research. My wife had a cataract surgery (monofocal, manual surgery, no other options were offered). The surgeon was recommended by her doctor. Not very good results, has double lines while driving, Doctor said everything is fine. I checked several clinics, asked a lot of questions. What I found is the most doctors do not do surgeries in their office, they do it in a surgery center and whichever this center can offer. I chose ReVision, because they have 2 surgeons who do only surgeries and 2 doctors who checkup a patient and do tests and follow up after surgery. And everything is done in the same place. They also do only Lasics and cataracts. Several of my friends did a surgery there and all were happy. I learnt a hard lesson with my wife. We were quite ignorant before her surgery. I am so sorry it did not work as expected for you. Good luck!
