I ordered a blanking plate, it's cheap and nasty, it doesn't fit I had to file loads off the top bottom and sides for it to fit, yes there is more room in the glove box for your rubbish but it doesn't look very professional, plus you need either super glue or double sided tape to keep it in plastic, almost £10 with delivery total rip off😢

My sensors sound the alarm but no longer displays car model on screen, anybody have experience with this issue?
@Dacoco2000
@Dacoco2000 2 месяца назад
Hi there, i think i have the same issue. Mine appears when i trigger VSA / when i drive the way VSA needs to do something. After "rebooting" the car, everything is fine again. Does this also sound like a ABS sensor? Is there a way to check this without the diagnostic device? Thank you
@GeesDrive
@GeesDrive 2 месяца назад
As far as I know, the VSA system relies on the ABS sensors on each wheel hub to monitor speed and they can fail which this causes the 'always on' error so not just when the VSA kicks in like yours. I think there is an ABS module behind the front bumper which can get corroded and burn out but thankfully I didn't need to investigate that any further as it was just the sensor on mine. ABS faults can't be checked with even a basic diagnostics tools, hence why I had to upgrade to a better device. It could tell you exactly what's going on so well worth it IMO. Good luck 🤞

Main reason it that it seemingly rains all the time here but also the local authorities spray the roads with salt/grit during winter to help stop the roads freezing. This stuff is really bad for cars.

Hey bud I've got the driver footwell leak as well but trying to get the roof rail off is proving very difficult. It pops off easy along the roof but as soon as I get to the first clip part on the windscreen it just won't come off, pulling it up to reveal the clip underneath (white fitting with what looks like blue push in clips) and putting a flathead screwdriver on the 2 spaces to try and pop it out is just not working, so I've ended up putting a slight bend in the roof rail trying to get the first one out. Any ideas on how to get that off so I can seal around the window driver side? or might come down to just ripping it off and getting a new roof rail from somewhere? Edit - I'm also not too sure on how to strip off the driver footwell carpet to get under it to dry it all out so any pointers on that aswell would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Steve
@GeesDrive
@GeesDrive 4 месяца назад
I think they're different coloured clips, blue, yellow, red etc. You need to put a small, wide flat screw driver or spatula in the 2 rectangle holes on the retaining clip that is fixed to the car. I found a PDF on one of the forums about the FN2 roof rack, which details how to remove them. Might be worth a google for that PDF. Basically it's a pain in the neck. I think the drivers carpet removal needs the acc pedal taking out first, I just lifted it up as much as possible and stripped the padding out, dried it then put it back. Good luck with it Steve 👍
@stevzor
@stevzor 4 месяца назад
@@GeesDrive Thanks bud, will unclip the carpet to dry it out as much as I can and if the leak continues I'll maybe get a garage to take the rail off at the windscreen so I can seal all the way down it without destroying every clip there lol.

Type R EP 3 was mine dream car when I was young but actually FN as daily is also i nice to have as it has all you need as cruise control, ESP, ABS, climate.Looking at the end of the video that boot is actually the same in Civic Tourer models only smaller. Honda used that very same boot design and used it on later Tourer MK9 and hatchbacks all the way to 2016. I bought Tourer 1.8vtec low mileage 2014 only 53k and now for a Type R as daily. One thing to add Tourer Civic has more boot space then Passat or Octavia from VAG.

Previous owner fitted a Type R gear knob to my Type S and, I gotta admit, I'm not keen on how cold it is on winter mornings. Might seem trivial but when it's wet, freezing cold, and dark outside I don't need the gear knob reminding me of it every time I change gear. Might not be as "fancy" but I think I'm going to replace it with a stock Civic gear knob.

FWIW, mine came with an invoice stating that the driver's door and front wing were repainted when the car was 14 months old as a result of "paint changing colour due to solar lighting" which is, I assume, somebody's way of saying the paint suffered UV damage or wasn't completely UV stable. The evidence of overspray on yours MIGHT indicate the car had a similar issue at some point, rather than suggesting accident damage was repaired.
@GeesDrive
@GeesDrive 6 месяцев назад
Thanks @SiCrewe that's good to know. Was that a UK car is elsewhere? I know it's well documented that the Honda paint on the FN2 is thin and suffers laquer peel etc. I suspect on my car in particular, it's had a few panels resprayed and not due to accident damage. Thanks for the insight 🙂
